Here is a general interest article about Vitamin D and coronavirus.  There are many past discussions about Vitamin D and colon cancer.

A new study from researchers at Trinity College Dublin has hypothesized that vitamin D deficiency may be linked to higher mortality rates from COVID-19. Published in the Irish Medical Journal, the report analyzed vitamin D levels of older people in countries heavily affected by the coronavirus and found that places with high death rates from COVID-19, including Italy and Spain, also had rates of vitamin D deficiency.

    Heard that too

Yup I've heard that too and my D was low when they took it at inital diagnosis.  I've been taking extra Vitamin D every day since, but insurance doesn't want to pay for it as it's not a standard protocal for lab work.  But I'll pay the extra bucks every year to have it taken, and mine has been fine ever since.  With the lock up in place, it's not good for individuals to be cooped up in the house all day either.  Get out in the sunshine whenever possible as it's good for you.

    Vitamin D

Yeah I heard about that study too. It was interesting to read because I dont associate these countries with vit D deficiency. Our whole family even I take vit D cause we all dont have enough and when you read all the diseases it could cause when there is not enough I am more motivated to take it :)

But before the cancer diagnosis my dads level were normal I think. He has taken supplements for years already. But then there could be a genetical cause for my dad...

Something interested I read years ago and I dont know if it is true: apparently 15 minutes direct sunshine to your whole face is enough vitamin D for a year (face without make up or protection cream). Dont know if that is true. When my dad works in the summer, I see him often without a shirt and he still not had enough... Maybe someone knows more about it?

    Amazing

93ng/ml?  Amazing.  I have been working on it for three years and the best I have done is 80ng/ml.

    Time in the sun

There is a lot of talk about how little sun exposure is needed to get vitamin d.  That is not my experience.  I live in a sunny climate and get a lot of outdoor exercise, but I was still low.  Now I take 5,000IU daily and get 30 minutes of tanning around noon in the warm months.  That strategy has gotten me into the higher reaches of vitamin d blood levels, but not like snapdragon.  Perhaps we all have individual differences.

Yes,93.3 ng/ml...you are up there with 80 for 3 yrs trying.  Good job, its hard to do!!!!  Its took me over 5 yrs.  I was hoping chemo wouldn't knock it down and it didn't :)

Some of us don't metabolize D from the sun

My vitamin D has been extremely low, and I take high doses of D3 to get in the normal range.  One of my sisters is a farmer - outside all day, and her D levels were low.  My other sister lives in Hawaii and her D levels are low.  I think that my family can't make it from the sun; we require supplements.
