After breast cancer support
I just went through breast cancer and ended my treatment six months ago. Dealing with alot of emotions. Had a masectomy with no reconstruction alot of memory issues and everybody I know acts like I need to just forget it. While I agree it is still affecting me.
Any advice out there?

I feel the same way
Hi,
After my double mastectomy, some people felt like I was doing ok mentally and physically. I dealt with a lot after my surgery and I kept looking at my body or chest couldn't face the fact both breast are gone. Yes your emotions will get the best of you, although everybody is different. I find it better to talk to someone who has been thru the same thing because how can another person know how you feel if they haven't been thru what you been thru. Its hard to forget, it's hard in some cases to move on because our body has been thru a lot. I am now on a 5 year pill and the affects from it are horrible. The only way I can get pass the day is stay busy to get my mind off things. I have good days and bad days. I am up and can't sleep. Some people can't forget because it affects you mentally and physically. I am thankful I found this website and trying to find other websites where I can read other comments about what other people are going thru and how they are coping. You hang in there and deal with your emotions the way you want.

Yeah I tried to talk to my boyfriend while he is understanding he can't understand why six months after treatment it still effecting me. I'm on the same 5 year pill plan and the side effects are brutal. And I totally understand the body image thing I hate wearing prosthetics so heavy uncomfortable and looking at my body does upset me and the fact that this cancer took something from me. I have to be real and be able to share that with someone who does understand and not treat me like there's something wrong. This is normal for alot of us and I'm glad we can help each other support each other and get through this however long it may take. How are you when you have to go back for check ups every three months or maybe six.. I'm a basketcase I hate going to doctors or hospitals it put me right back to when I was first diagnosed. OK ttys

Hi i had a double masectamy
Hi i had a double masectamy and in the process of reconstruction. I debated about reconstruction or prosthetics. Either way my body will never be the same. I feel like people don't understand unless they've been through it. This has and will continue to be a part of me. I don't have good advice i am new to all this. I hope we find strength to keep fighting. Best of luck

Hospitals
Yes Maggie2150,
I too couldn't and still can't stand going to hospitals especially the one where I had my chemotherapy done! Makes no sense I know in my head but still...
Currently I'm still in treatment but in another hospit but we have no choice. Just get in there get the check up done and pray whatever results will be good so we can get going. I have check ups every 3 months so I and my husband live 3 month to 3 months! It sucks but that's my life right now! But otherwise I can't complain! Actually just had a PET Scan and all is Good! I'm grateful for that. I guess we take small steps and hope for the best. You take care

Yes this 5 year pill have a new side effect each month. Here are my side effects from the arimidex pill: Hot flashes are horrible, Insomnia, pain in my back, legs, fingers, stomach, bones, armpit, knees, side, ribs, chest, and hip. I sometimes feel little tiny needles or a burning sensation around my incision and ribs. I also feel some breast pain although I don't have any breast and some tightness around my chest. I did have some leg swelling and around my knee, but that went down. Swelling under my armpit. I sometimes feel pain in the pelvic around (sometimes) I am sometimes constipated. The doctor gave me something to help me sleep and that works. It's the side effects that are stressing me out and I want to feel normal. After my mastectomy, I feel tightness around my chest, so I decided to do stretches and it helped. My stomach got big so I decided to do situps and so far so good. I start to get paranoid sometimes when I have my 3 month follow-up.
