10 years cancer free today UPSC Brachytherapy saves lives
Had my annual exam today and am 10 years cancer free. Another lady who did chemo with me just found out she had a reoccurance with UPSC at her 10 year checkup. The difference between her treatment and mine was I had the internal radiation (brachytherapy) and she opted not to do it. Her only new symptoms were a reoccuring bladder infection. She has to go see a specialist to see if she is a candidate for vaginal cuff restructuring (since her reoccurance was at the vaginal cuff and had gone through the wall). She will then have internal radiation (brachytherapy) and another 6 chemo treatments. Its better to be safe and do the radiation treatment then to reoccur and have to start the process all over again.

Congrats on your 10 year
Congrats on your 10 year cancer free celebration! Such a great milestone.
I think your comments are very helpful for those still trying to determine what course of treatment is correct for them.
Love and Hugs,

Congratulations on your 10 year milestone! I hope you have many, many more years remaining with No Evidence of Disease. I am really happy for you!
I myself just reached my 9 year mark in February so I have less than a year to go for my 10 year milestone.

Congratulations
Congratulations for the 9 year and 10 year mark. It is so reassuring to read this. I just finished 25 rounds of pelvic radiation as brachytherapy was ruled out. My radiation oncologist thought I had a suspicious node and wanted to go the whole nine yards. Did the woman who had the recurrence have any radiation? I am still nervous that I made the right choice. I was told the pelvic radiation would encompass the vaginal cuff where this rotten cancer often recurs.

YOU ARE TRULY A SURVIVOR
Congratulations on your incredible milestone - 10 years CANCER FREE having been diagnosed with UPSC is a rare achievement!
When I was diagnosed with UPSC in 2012 I was told that I could not have radiation as I had diverticulosis.( I had two diverticulosis attacks one in Nov. 2007 when I was went to the emergency 3 days in a row another in Aug. 2009 when I was hospitalized for 4 days) I vowed then that I would never have another attack if I could help it and 11 years later I have not. When something happens you just need to learn everything you can and deal with it.
I believe that you are correct that VBT does save lives. I am in the process now of discussing radiation with a radiation oncologist to see if any type of radiation could work for me now.
I wish you a very long life cancer free.
