Ya, the anticipation makes myAnnabelle41415 said:Anticipation
The anticipation of the surgery is the worst part of all. You can get through this. You have a couple days left, go to the hospital and it's all done and over with. You will be so glad that it is behind you. You can do it. Please let us know when you can how you are doing. We will be waiting for you to let us know that all is well. You are going to be sore, but walk, walk, walk. You will do so much better if you do. Wishing you the best.
Kim
Ya, the anticipation makes my emotions crazy for sure. I will check in after surgery. Thank you so much for everything!

Thinking of You
You are out of surgery now and just want you to know I've been thinking about you. When you are able to walk a little, sit up and get on a computer, it would be nice to hear from you. But first, take care of yourself and we will be waiting here to hear how you are doing.

Hi Everyone! Got home
Hi Everyone! Got home yesterday. Surgery went good, they saved my life. However, I was left in the recovery area for 18 1/2 hrs being shuffled around and out of the way to make room for other patients coming out of surgery. Surgical team saved me but administrative errors almost killed me. Thank God I survived.

It is great to hear from you
It sounds like you are feeling good, emotionally; and I hope the same goes for you physically - though it is along process, where you will have good days, and want to do more than you should - so don't. And bad days when you just want to veg on the couch - but you still need to walk as much as you can.
I'm sorry you got lost in the shuffle. 18 1/2 hours it TOTALLY unacceptable, and I hope you have filed a report. I am glad that someone got you sorted, and you could be a little more comfortable in a hospital room.
Be good. Do what the Doctor says. And heal well.
So good to see you posting.

If it makes you feel any better, I spent almost 24 hours in a hallway waiting for a room to open. . . Luckily, when I finally got a room, it was a private room and I was able to sleep. Sometimes health care is not what we picture it to be.

So glad you are home!
Great news that the surgery went well and you made it home--despite a horrible experience in Recovery. So sorry that happened to you!

Awesome
It's so good to hear that you are home already. Now you can sleep in your own bed. You are still going to be really sore, but it's better than being in a hospital bed. Thank you for posting and letting us know you are doing ok. Sorry to hear of the wait you had to go through. Hopefully, you will get a home health care nurse to help you in the next day or two. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Pretty much same here, half the time was spent in the hallway not even hooked up to any monitors. 18 1/2 hrs shuffled around recovery area, second spot I was in was a horror story. They wheeled a man beside me, started waking him up and he went into the death rattle. It was chaos at that point. Staff was working hard and fast to save him but they couldn't. I was in the middle of it. I was screaming to get me out of there. Another spot I was moved to, same thing with another man. The man lived that time thank God!

Thank you, Kim! It feels good to be home. Haven't made it past the recliner to the bed yet but maybe in another day or two. My son and dogs really missed me and have been sleeping in living room too. I had the choice of a home health nurse but the dr's thought that I'd stress more about the nurse coming than she could actually help so I declined it. I can change my mind at any time tho. What I really need is someone to keep my house clean and clothes washed, haha.

Awesome!
Glad you are home and the surgery is done done done! Take it easy and listen to your body. Don't push yourself to clean that house and do that laundry... You are recovering, darnit... LOL
Really, I'm glad that you are doing well, take care of yourself.

I guess I was lucky, I was just with guys shouting for their pain pills all night long. But, hopefully in a few months, yours will make a good story. It is great that you are back home and can focus on healing.

After my surgery and during chemo, I had a saying, "there are certain things that aren't going to get done this year." For me, it was stuff like trimming bushes and trees, but the same theory applies. I don't know if anyone has mentioned to you the "hug the pillow" technique, but it sure benefited me to have an extra pillow around to take the stress off the abs when sneezing, coughing or laughing. Cheers!

Gosh yes, a pillow would have been nice earlier today. My son is packing for a cruise next week so I was telling him to eat over his plate, don't have gravy or spaghetti (ya know just kidding with him about dribbling on his shirt) and my husband said in his Seinfeld voice "and no marinara for you"...I cracked up over that and it hurt!!!!

they didn't give you a binder? Did they teach you how to roll up on your arm so as not to use your abdomen when you get out of bed
