My mother passed away - thank you all for your support
Dear all,
I wanted to let you know that my mother passed away on December 8th at home, peacefully in our arms, surounded by love. Her name was Loukia which means light and that's what she has been in the lives of so many. She was 72. She fought this disease (along with stroke) with an exemplary passion and strength - she was a life lover and she taught us in the best way possible throughout all her life (including during her disease) what it means to value the gift of life...she will always be my hero and and my example and I have so many strong memories and life lessons to remember and cherish from her and with her.
Right now I'm devastated, in deep pain. I hope time helps heal this pain.
With this I want to also thank you for your support, your advice and guidance throughout these couple of years. You are really all doing an amazing job here and I have huge admiration for all of you, first and foremost the patients but also the carers. Wishing you wholeheartedly a healthy 2020. If you are fighting this disease personally, keep it up. No matter how this ends, we can all make every day count, giving and receiving love and doing good. And in this fight there are also indeed many good moments and powerful experiences. And for those who lost a dear someone in the past year an extra big hug with wishes for healing your hearts and souls gradually.
with love and my best wishes for positive news in 2020,
Mariana

Dea Mariana
I am very sorry to hear about your mother. It sounds like she put up a good fight, and in no way lost, but has moved on.
I do believe that time heals, but there will always be a longing for her presence. May you find peace in the memories, and knowing that she was such a beloved mother and mentor. Be good to yourself, there is no time limit on hurting for her loss.
Thank you so much for taking the time to come back and let us know, and for your kind words of support.
May your life be filled with joy, as you move forward, and happy memories as you look back.

I am so sorry
To hear of your mother's passing. I sadly know too well how hard it is to lose a parent. Time helps, do whatever you need to help get you through your grief.

I’m so sorry Mariana. No
I’m so sorry Mariana. No matter how long you get to have your Mom, it’s absolutely devastating when they leave us. It’s almost a physical pain right now and you will always miss her. But there will be a day that you can remember her and smile. She sounds like a wonderful warrior.
Sending you and your family love, strength and peace.

Mother
I'm sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She was lucky to have all her loved ones there with her when she moved on to a more peaceful place. May you find comfort during this most difficult time.
