Pre-surgery stage results

Stage T3N1.  Mass 1.6cm from anal verge.  1 mesorectal lymph node involved.  Another small lymph node presacral.   Positive circumferential resection margin.  Negative lymphvascular invasion.   Does this mean I might dodge the bullet for APR surgery you think?  I am going to research all these terms this weekend.  Any knowledge you all have I would love to hear them.

    Tentative

It seems like these pre-surgical stagings are very tentative.  Things could be better or worse when they do the surgery.  At least for me, I had no real idea until after the surgery was completed.  Sorry if this is not helpful, but you should be aware of the possibility.

    Probably the best approach.

    Surgery

Most staging is confirmed after surgery due to testing tissue. It is my understanding, it is best to have it cut out and get rid of it.  Don't be too caught up in the scenarios right now, and if you trust your doctor, go with his recommendation with an open mind.  You and your doctor are the only ones that can come up with a plan that you can both be satisfied with.  Wishing you the best.

My surgeons concern is the cancer is to close to the anal verge but now with the MRI saying 1.6cm it might be far enough away.  I don't see him about the results until Jan 10th  "sigh"

I am still learning all the terms and rectal cancer itself.  I have taken the whole month of Jan off work to prepare for surgery and hopefully be more informed before the surgery.
