One More Update
Stated earlier that I had the neck dissection and 2 operations to stop the leaking khylie valve. At that point from x rays a suspicious node was discovered so I underwent another op to biopsy the node and thank God it was negative. And then I had a temporary feeding tube in my nose so another op to put one in my belly since it was going to be longer. And then from all the intubating in my throat area from all the operations I ended up not breathing well and now have what I hope is a temporary trach. Right now it is capped off and I am not using it but will be seeing ENT soon to see if my vocal cords have recovered enough to remove it. I also had drainage tubes in my right side chest which are all removed now. So my first week at home was actually too busy with visiting nurses, occupational therapy, speech and swallowing therapy and next week physical therapy. Hard to get any rest or things done around the house. I believe most will be signing off next week since they are saying I am doing well enough that they don’t need to come to my home anymore. I do believe speech and swallowing may still be onboard though. First week home I tire easily and don’t have the stamina I used to but I don’t expect much till the weeks get by here a little bit. Exercising around the house and doing some short walks outside. Also am trying to pay attention to my body and rest as often as necessary. Glad to be home with the wife that’s for sure-I will try to get involved again here as I feel up to it-God Bless you all-Russ

Walk of Fire
You sure have been put through the ringer and have come out the other side with a good attitude. Try to stay positive and hopefully you'll recover enough to start enjoying life again. To me, you've suffered quite enough.
Heal soon Russ.

Thanks tommodavey, nancytc, and shirley123 for
Your positive words, support, and many prayers. It is difficult to stay positive at times I'm sure we've all struggled with it but not pushing towards the positive just gets you down further. So we choose the positive and move past our down periods and leave them in the past. I had a lot of activity this week my first week home with nurses, speech, and physical therapists plus a follow-up doctor's appointment. But the wife and I just took the weekend and rested and only did necessary things to get rested up. Plan on doing so sensible exercise this week coming up including some mild outside walking. Again thanks for everybody's support on the forum and taking the time as I know you all have your struggles and issues also-God Bless
