Looking for names of oncologists in Sloan-Kettering

I am looking for names of good oncologist in Sloan Kettering in NY. The one that you see and pleased with. I am not talking about Nancy K. I just got back from MD Anderson and my local oncologist wants me to go to Sloan Kettering. Thank you. Butt.,

    I just met Dr. Diane Reidy there

    She is now my medical (colorectal) oncologist, and I was very impressed with her.  My surgical onc, who referred me to her thinks very highly of her.  She is compassionate and respectful as well as a top oncologist.

    The catch with MSK is that if you call blindly, they will assign you to a med onc.  You need a referral to a specific dr, so if your local onc would request that you meet with Dr. Reidy, she would see you.

    She talked with  me about how to best handle my upcoming chemo since I had such a bad time with folfox (my previous MSK onc moved away.)  She is very respectful of my concerns, doesn't sugar-coat, but wants to work with you for the best options for you, not "Cancer Patient 2365"

    Yes, I recommend her highly.

    Why not Kemeny? Are you not a candidate for the HAI pump? Dr. Kemeny is the only oncologist I’ve had at MSKCC. I’ve been with her for over 15 years.

    She is the pump lady. I don t need it because I got HAI locally done close to home. My issue is lungs. Butt.

    Chances are every oncologist is going to be good.  Also treatments are going to be pretty much standard in terms of approach.  There may be variations between doctors, but for the most part I am guessing they will go first line, second line etc.  Testing of the tumor is standard there.  Over the last 5 years, with one exeption of one nurse, I have had nothing but a good experience across the board at MSK, from doctors, to oncologists, to receptionists, to parking staff  (I have been going enough that I am friendly with them at this point.)

    So I guess the question is, what are you looking for in the oncologist that will meet your needs? Someone with a good bedside manner? (Though I guess those who don't have a good one do not last long at MSK).  Someone who is going to go completely cutting edge?  (Not sure how much that will happen outside of a trial.)  Someone who is flexible in treatment plans?  MSK has been pretty good in allowing me to live my life and allowing flexibility in treatments for fmaily things and plans.  Each time on chemo they wanted me to get a "base" on treatments, maybe 1/2 dozen or so, before getting some wiggle room.  In fact I am now on a three week cycle of FOLFORI instead of two week in order to give me more good days.

    PhillieG mentioned Dr. Kemeny, who he has been with 15 years.  That is a pretty good indication of his opinion of her and what she has been able to do for him.  Though she may have experience in the pump, if you look at what she has done on her bio at the MSK site, it is clear that she has a broad skill set and led the way in treatments in CRC.  Abrub also has extensive experience in this, if she says she likes what she has seen with Dr Reidy so far, I would highly suggest following up there.  

    Anyway, hope you find a doctor that you like at MSK and can get started there soon.
