A strange question—- Heaven.

I know my question is strange and I respect people’s religious beliefs but assume that most people on this board consider themselves Christians. When someone dies people often say something like he/ she is in a better place, on Heaven, with Jesus and etc. How do you know that the person whom you loved is on Heaven? How do you know that you Neigbour Joe who worked hard and never cheated on his wife will go to Heaven?  The gate to Heaven is narrow. Thoughts? Butt.

You are saved by faith, not acts

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but shall have eternal life.  John 3:16, New International Version

Most Christians, believe that being Baptized gaurantees a place in Heaven.  I was taught that you will go to heaven if you accept Jesus Christ as your saviour.

Catholics believe that you go to heaven if you are baptized as an infant and go to confessions, say your hail Mary's among other things.  I am not a Catholic, so am not certain of all they teach.

My church teaches as the Bible says above quoted John 3:16 and that  "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" So you must repent and turn away from a sinful life. Even though no one is perfect, I believe that most sins are forgiven, but don't really think you're supposed to keep living a sinful lifestyle if you truly believe.

I suppose you assume they were in heaven if you know they truly believed in Jesus Christ.
