1 month post op and more

I had my 1 month post op check up with my Kidney surgeon. He told me all of my Kidney tumor was removed with clear margins and I would

need no further

treatment. I will have follow scans every 6 months for 5 years. Now the stuff I have been dealing with. Before I had my Partial

Nephrectomy, I was having some other health issues with my stomach. I was told I would need more surgery and I had a intestinal infection

that may or may not be cancer. I scheduled a colonoscopy to find out what what going on and the results are the doctor was not able

to see because the scope would not go through my colon because it was to narrow. I am scheduled for surgery in a couple of weeks. I am

now scared and upset as I am left wondering once again, if it is cancer or not. I was told either way I still need the surgery as I  have been

very ill most days with nausea and not able to keep much food down. I am having a hard time dealing with this after just recenly having my

Kidney surgery. I am a big cry baby most of the time lately. My husband thinks I cry to much. I have just gotton so emotional lately and it

sometimes helps to have a good cry.

Oh, that must hurt so much to be sick to your stomach when you're recovering from surgery.  And all the worry on top of it!  Sorry to say, your husband needs someone to kick him in the nuts right now, 1) to get his attention, and 2) to let him know what pain is.  Sending you a virtual hug.

I feel a little better today

My husband is a good man. He is just a very Stoic person and does not show his emotions like me. Thank you for

    your support.

    one step at a time-

kdy- first off, congrats on the good result with your kidney. Clear margins are good news. Glad you're feeling better!

As for the next medical procedure, just take it one step at a time. You already made it through your nephrectomy, which is a major deal and you did great. No reason you can't do it again with other procedures. I'm confident you can come through this stronger than ever.

And there's nothing wrong with being a cry baby. Feel free to let it all out here on the message boards. We're here for you if you want to cry or complain or vent.

As for your husband, going through medical procedures can be stressful in other ways to our loved ones. Wouldn't surprise me if his reaction is just fear and helplessness coming out with all you're going through. Stoic guys can be like that. If his reaction continues to bring you down, maybe encourage him to talk to someone about his feelings - friend or family or therapist/counselor-type.

Good luck with the next few medical appointments. You've got this!

Crying is a good an healthy

Crying is a good an healthy coping mechanism. Honestly, I wich I could do more. The clear margins are great news and the six month check ups are just a normal part of the program that we all have to go through, but I still find stressfull. I have notice that with my battle it has become eay to immediately go to a worse case scenario with any medical issues that have come up. I wish I could just tell you to not worry until you know something for sure but I think we all know how difficult to impossible that can be at times. The best advice I can think of is to remember all that you have aready gone through and accomplished, be proud of yourself and what you have endured, and take that same strength and hold onto it as you move forward.

I still have a couple of weeks to think about whats next

I will try and be positive and think good thoughts. It will be tough but its that or stress myself out even more.

Thank you for your support and suggestions. I have been through major changes in my life and have come out

of it with a much different outlook on life, as I made it through my Kidney surgery. Its just another bump in the

road. Hopefully the road ahead is smoother.

    Good news

I had my colon surgery and received good news. My pathology report did not show any signs of cancer. I actualy had the surgery a week ago and have been waiting to get my results. I ended up having open surgery as they started with laprascopic and it did not go well so they had to do open,

I am starting to get quite a few scars on my belly with my partial nephrectomy and my colon resection.  I guess the bikinis are not going to be an option anymore. I am just feeling so good right now. I wanted to share my good news.

    Hoping for continued healing!

    Tough

Tough luck to start with but a tough lady coped with all that.

Scars are a badge of honour - they show you survived. I don't look all that good in swimmers either these days.

    And stoics are OK.

    Best Wishes, Fred
