Should I be concern?

in Breast Cancer #1

Can someoe tell me how would a person know if cancer has spread to other parts of your body, how do you feel?  I was wondering because people say they went for their checkup or felt lumps???  I am still having affects from the radiation that was finished in March 2019.  The radiation was on my left side, underarm, some of my neck and chest walls and taking amitrex for 5 years.  Becasue I had lymph nodes taken out, my underarms feel numb an puffy which the doctor said that is expected. My ribs hurt on both sides and I feel sharp pains every now and then on both sides.  My concern is why am I feeling discomfort on my right side too when the radiation was done on the left side.  Should I panic?  or because of the radiation and taking amitrex, its effecting all other areas on my body.

    I'm just about to start a six-week course of radiation for stage 3 breast cancer, and I'm interested in hearing what you learn.  We get hit so hard with all this treatment, and then we are left wondering whether or when cancer will recur and how we might catch it if it does.

    The first thing I want to say

    The first thing I want to say is, did you have a mastectomy? I was diagnose with breast cancer last year in June of 2018. I went in for a breast reduction and had a mamogram and was diagnosed with breast cancer in my left breast.  At first I had a lumpectomy and then a bilateral mastectomy which was my choice.  I had radiation for 6 weeks.  I am going to be honest and when I say honest it's the truth.  I didn't feel the effects until the last week.  I was working until the last 2 days of treatment.  My skin was burning so bad, it felt like someone lit a match and caught me on fire.  At night I had my arm on a pillow so it wouldn't touch my skin and it took 3 weeks for me to get back to normal. I used some cream the doctor prescribed for me which didn't do any good until I read about someone spraying Dermoplast and it healed really fast.  Now keep in mind, I put this on after my treatment was over.  When you start the treatment, make sure you put Aquaphor or Cetaphil on your skin even if it doesn't burn.  The doctor will have some samples for you to try.  Please talk to the doctor and ask lots of questions.  My problem, now, I have pain under my arms because of my surgery lymphedema and the radiation made it worse.  Here are the effects after radiation:  a tight ban feels like it is wrapped around my chest, cant rest at night because of the soreness from the radiation,  feel tingling and sharp pains every now and then.  If you have to take the 5 year pill, you will feel sharp pains and bones hurting all the time.  My ribs hurt and I asked my doctor is this normal and said yes.  I can't sleep at night.  I had to quit my job and get another one because my shoulder, legs, and knee hurt.  I know I have said a lot and still have more to say.  Just because I am having these effects, doesn't mean you will have them because everybody is different.  Also before you even try something talk to your doctor.

    SE of breast cancer vary

    I had a double mastectomy, chemo, adjunct, and now taking Armidex.    I did not have radiation.   I have a tight band arcross my chest, stings and pain pop up in the chest, lymphedema in both arms, rib pain, joint pain.   Pysical therapy will teach you life time care.  Push through and find a silver lining in each day.  We are warriors fighting for our lifes.

    Some people don't have any

    Some people don't have any side effects and you may be that person.  To be honest, my skin looks beautiful and smooth.  It was funny because when I first used the dermoplast, I couldn't wait to get home and use it.  I cleaned myself up, locked the door and sprayed away.  I felt the best.  Now I read on this website that some people didnt have any discomfort, but everybody have different effects.
