Advance Liver cancer and "Folfox chemotherapy"

My Husband had been on "Nexavar" for two months but finally found out that his tumors are still growing and there are more spots on his liver. The oncology decided to stop the Nexavar and try to put him on "Folfox".

Anyone who has same treatment, please response my post and I would be much appreciated..

    Hi: I have gallbladder cancer that spread to the liver and the peritoneum. I had 12 rounds of the typical chemo treatment for gallbladder cancer, gemcitibine + cisplatin, but that didn't do anything for the liver (or peritoneum) mets. The oncologist then put me on a combination of folfox and folfiri called folfirinox (oxaliplatin + irenotecan + 5FU pump) and that did stabilize the liver (and peritoneum) mets. I had 14 treatments of folfirinox - the side effects can be nasty - but then had a perforated bowel that landed me in the hospital for 3 months. I am now on high dose radiation over 2 weeks for the liver met. I have had 3 "shots" so don't know if it is working or not. May I suggest you talk to the oncologist about folfirinox?

    As you all know that my husband has stopped "Nexavar" and started having Folfox treatment for 4th cycle.  Thanks God that his health has improved.  All his tumors are strinking.  He has less pain on his tumors, do more daily activities, eat more daily and gain weight.  According to our oncology Dr. he will give 6th rounds of chemo and switch to pills. 

    With this Folfox treatment, he has very few side effects.  He only very sensative to cold.  During the treatment, he has mucle pain.

    Our first thanksgiving and Chrismas were wonderful.  January 21 will be our first anniversary.

    Foilfox

    My husband was put on Foilfox 7 months ago witch at that time he was told he only had 6 months or less it help him for a few week's .He also started felling better and was eating again .He put some weight back on he had lost 70 pounds in 4 month's. His pain was not as bad he could do some daily activities.But he could not take a full round of it after 3 week's his body started rejecting the Foilfox.That is a good chemo .But my husband was told he has  stage 4  metastasis pancreatic cancer .His liver is full of cancer and it has spread to many places . His platelets keep droping so they put him on what they called jimstar and his body is rejecting that one as well .They won't him to have chemo every week and his platelets keep droping so now they are trying to give him chemo every 3 weeks. I am so happy for you  and your husband that the Foilfox help him and will keep y'all in my prayers. It is hard on us as care givers. God bless

    Dear Why Me,

    I am so sorry to hear about your husband.  I know exactly how heard this would be for you.  We are on the same boat.  However please be strong.

    My husband finished 6th round of Chemo and he is still doing very well.  His tumors are shrinking, eating more, gaining weights.  However, sometimes his platelets count has drop and sometime he has fever.  We are going to switch to pill.  The pill is going to take three weeks for one round.  The doctors said as long as benefical for him, they will keep giving to him.  My husband is only 38 years old.  We are keep fighting this horriable cancer and praying hard.  Our prayers are with you and your husband.  Good Bless you and your family.

    Liver Cancer melts to Lung

    Hi Cheryl,

    Thank you for your into.  how are you doing and let me know.  It is what he has for 6 cycle and now he has on oral pills.

     

    We just found out bout my husband's CT scan result.  The tumors are strinking alots but cancer melts to left lung.  My primary Doctor also think that there are some blood clots in Liver but might be more tumors.  Our onclology Dr. Appt is in a month but hopefully we can re-schedule with him for sooner date. We both are really disapointed with the CT scan result but we decided to fight more.  He has pain on liver and back. Praying for him and taking best care of him no matter what.

    liver cancer choices

    I had colorectal that went to the liver to stage 4. My liver was 70+% infected. I was on chemo for 5 weeks and stayed on a no sugar diet. I mean NO Sugar!

    I ate every antioxidant i could eat or drink. Trader joes blueberry juice, carrot juice, I juiced with pulp and i ate ehat i could as soup. I folowed the Eat Right For Your Type diet.

    I tried to keep my appetite up as best as I could. New pictures showed 45-50% infection at the end of 5 weeks. We waited and discontinued radiation and chemo. Then we started

    Folfox for 2 two week sessions which went well. At the end the tennisball tumor had been reduced to a ping pong ball. And during the surgery my liver was inspected and is now about 35%

    infected. More chemo will come soon and my diet will bring the liver to zero by April or sooner. Listen to these words for success.  NO REFINED SUGAR, NO CORN PRODUCTS, NO

    my sister has liver cancer

    Her oncologist told her that there is nothing he can do for her.  Her whole body has cancer cells.  The liver is 100% full of cancer. 

    I am trying to get information of what kind of food she can eat.  As you have said" NO REFINED SUGAR, NO CORN PRODUCTS, NO

    ARTIFICAL SWEETNERS, CUT EXCESS CARBS FOR A WHILE, EAT NATURAL, EAT SKINS OF VEGTABLES AND FRUITS.  I have read too that salt is not good. 

    Can someone give me ideas of what cookbooks or recipes i can get. 

    I am so confused, reading all the information on the internet, I am not sure what is good & not good for her.  PLEASE HELP.

    Hi diamondfield, It can be a real minefield out there and it takes time to sort through everything. I can recommend Kris Carr, Crazy Sexy Cancer, she is an amazing woman who was stage 4 cancer as well, she has done huge amounts of research and has now written cookbooks as well for health warriors!  Check out her website and go from there, her books are available on Amazon or you can download them. She is also very uplifting and inspirational.

    Liver cancer

    My son had liver cancer bye passed in May but we have been part of a private group on face book.  I can add you if you like.  I just need to know your name to add.  The group is called fibrolamellars of the world unite.  This group was so helpful during our journey.  Everyone there is fighting the same cancer.     This is the best treatment they have for what a lot of us have. I will be  going for #4 of 12 this week. So far so good. Counts remain good. No sick feeling or appetite loss. Neuropathy is mild, more of a nuisance for someone who has worked with their hands their whole life.On my infusion days I try to make everyone laugh. I want to keep upbeat through all of this. I pray for all of my brothers and sisters who are in this fight. God love you. We can win. I will keep you all updated.

    Foldox7, just diagnosed my self with stage IV colon cancer with two lesion on my liver. my doctor say 6 treatments and then hopefully surgery. May be treatment after surgerry.  my second treatment myself. are you taking Avastin in your regim?
