Looking for Suggestions on dealing with Metal Taste in Mouth

Assuming many who have had treatments have suffered from the side effect of the metal taste in the mouth that will not go away.  Any suggestions on how you are dealing with that or dealt with this in the past are appreciated!

    Metallic taste from chemo

Mary, I think you are experiencing the same metallic taste many of us also experienced from having chemo that basically is a form of platinum metal. I remember the taste as being like a mouth full of nails. As a result of the metal taste I tended to offset it by eating more savory, spicy or more highly seasoned foods. Before I had chemo I never really cared for spicy food. I am sure others will offer you their thoughts over the coming days. Also I think I chewed on sugar free peppermint gum. After you finish your treatments that metallic (platinum) taste will go away. Lemon drops may help as well. I hope your tastebuds recover soon. No fun that is for sure!!!

    When I was on Carboplatin

When I was on Carboplatin/Taxol, the bad taste in my mouth was so terrible on days 3-6 after treatment, that I literally could not even stand the taste of water.  The only thing that I could drink was fresh-squeezed orange juice.

I had the bad taste in my mouth during radiation treatment, too.  The only good thing was that it finally went away, a few weeks after I finished radiation treatment.
