Another bit of promising drugs news for recurrent/advanced

It was a small study, but the results are pretty exciting: 30% response rate in recurrent/advanced disease, 49% in MSI-H tumors. Even better, the rates of adverse side effects were lower than other good-news research reported on recently. The drug is Dostarlimab, a checkpoint inhibitor. Here are the details:

    Thanks, do you know if its for serous or endometroid cancer? I couldn't find reference to which type of cancer it was for

    The study itself doesn't

    The study itself doesn't specify, so I'd say they took all endometrial types, but the preliminary reporting didn't break down their particular results.

    Micro satellite instability

    It looks like MSI is associated with Lynch syndrome and endometrioid endometrial cancer.

    Yes, and MSS is not

    Yes, and MSS is not associated with Lynch, so the study may have included types beyond endometrioid adenocarcinoma.

    Dostarlimab for endometrial cancer.

    I am currently in a clinical trial using dostarlimab. I have recurrent endometrial cancer in my liver and both lungs. After going through all the chemo therapies available to me there was nothing else that could be done. Fortunately in Sept 2018, this immunotherapy drug was approved for trials. I am MSS (microsatellite stable). I can tell you this is amazing. I have such a great quality of life now. I am back in the gym and am now volunteering at my cancer center. The side effects for me have been nothing more than being alittle tired and the best way to combat that is exercising. I believe that immunotherapy can change cancer to a chronic disease that can be treated. I did not have quality of life with chemotherapy. I am so thankful to be in this trial.

    From reading the article

    I think they included MSI and MMS types.  That would be both endometrioid and serous.    This is a step forward.   It sounds very promising.

    Ladies, yes there is probably

    Ladies, yes immunotherapy is probably the most exciting new treatment that hopefully will soon be available for all of us endometrial cancer warriors. I am so blessed to have been selected for this trial. I have always told everyone that I am a warrior and my goal is not to be a survivor,  but the victor over cancer. We all will die someday, however I believe with immunotherapy we will live a better quality of live. I pray that someday chemotherapy and radiation will be things of the past. Love to you all.

    Hello 63tattoolydia! I see this is your second post but you've been around much longer than that. Congratulations! Your story is very compelling; can I urge you to put some details under your About Me page so that others can benefit from your experience ?
