Rectal discharge

When i had my Colostomy bag. I was advised that even though I can no longer poop on the anus there are still mucus discharge. Ifind it very hassle because u need to go back to the cr for several times. I tried to stop it but when i decided to let it go i saw blood in bowl.

Is this another problem?

go to your doctor right away-

go to your doctor right away- that is what happened to me, and it turned out to be a tumor- never ignore blood in waste- always have it checked out imemdiately- the sooner they catch any problem the better chance you have of beating it. IF you catch it early enough, you might not even need chemo or radiation, but just surgery- but if you let it go too long, it will require both very likely because the stage woudl be higher- If it is cancer- that is- You could just have a hemmorhoid, but you better get it checked out imemdiately- By the time i saw blood it was too late- cancer was already in stage 3- not tryign to scare you- a relative of mine saw blood and theirs was only stage 1 and didn't need chemo or radiation-

oh and by hte way- because

oh and by hte way- because your rectal stump doesn't have waste flowign htroug it any more- it unfortunately makes it more susceptible to cancer- as it needs the waste to prevent cancer apparently- not sure why- but that is what i was told- peopel with rectal stumps are more likely to develope cancer of rectum than peopel who go normally-

It would be advised to go the doctor right away.  After my rectal surgery and because of all the radiation to the rectum my stools still had blood in them 9 months later.  I'm not sure if you had radiation but that can do a whole lot of damage to the rectum if it is radiated.  Call the doctor just to make sure.  They might be able to do a small scope in the office just to take a peek in the rectum to see if anything is going on.

    Treatment

Yup your treatment sounds like the same.  Pills/radiation first, surgery, and then IV 5FU with oxi.  My rectum would bleed for quite some time even while having an ostomy.  After my reversal 9 months later the blood was bad because of using it again.  Still it's good to have it checked out by the doctor.  I'd worry about everything but my doctor was so kind in confronting my fears.  Hope you have a great doctor that can help you get through this worry too.

Thanks kim.... By the way, what is the best colostomy bag to be used? Does it have to be fit or with small allowance for the stoma to breath? I had difficulty of adjusting on what bag to use. In the hospital they let me use 70mm bag. But its no longer available so i tried the 50mm and hello leaking

    Ostomy

It's best to get an ostomy nurse to help you get the right size.  It took me about 3 different manufacturers to get mine right and if you don't have to cut it is best.  Get one pre-cut as you won't have to worry about a cut that can injure the stoma.
