Colonoscopy update

hey guys,

had my colonoscopy today.  Not sure if the worrying ever gets easier.  Everything looks good cancer wise.  I do have some ulcerative colitis at the last 20 cm.  Not sure how thats distinguished from radiation proctitus.  Length of colon affected?  Anyway that was all a relief.  Couple pseudopolyps so nothing to remove. Said those could be from the inflammation.  Anyway all in all good news.  The stricture was not bad but they did dialate some.  Will be a little sore for a couple days but overall a great early birthday present.

    Scubajoe...

Yay! This sounds like good news to me! While the worrying does not necessarily get easier it does seem to come less often over time or at least to move to the back of the mind rather than the forefront.

I know I read somewhere (I thought on here but couldn't find it) of someone who used an anal dilator for a stricture or stenosis on a regular basis. If that is something you are comfortable with it may be worth discussing with your doctor. I had/have vaginal stenosis and during the first several years post treatment used a vaginal dilator to help with recovery from stenosis in that area. I think it helped some but admit that I slacked off in time, and have not used for the last couple years or maybe just don't feel the need to anymore. I hope this issue is just a small bumpin your recovery and easily managed.

Congratulations on a good over all report!

    Thanks guys. Pseudopolys

Thanks guys. Pseudopolys biopsy came back as nothing. All related to the ulcerative colitis.  Working with my go to deal with that so all in all a great visit.   Curious what day does everyone use as Ned? It’s been a year and three months sine the end of my radiation.  Had a biopsy done in March sometime that showed nothing so I guess that date?

    Hi,

I've heard people use variations in dates to claim NED status. It makes most sense to me though that the date of initial dx is usually associated with a biopsy or scan, so the date of NED could also be that of a follow-up biopsy or scan as well.

    Congratulations again...time to celebrate health!

    NED date

Good question, I guess I never thought much about it. Maybe I’m overly optimistic but I used the last day of radiation as my NED date, even though I didn’t get the news til later.
