Hot beverage suggestions

Anyone have suggestions for hot/warm beverages? I can't tolerate coffee and I'm so sick of tea I'd rather not have any for the next couple decades. I'm just finding that each treatment I can't even have room temp beverages for 8-9 days. I'm just about at the point I'd rather not drink and just go to urgent care to get IV fluids to stay hydrated. Not good.

I drink room temp water, but

I drink room temp water, but I hold in my mouth a few seconds to warm to body temp. I make sure to drink my water. No medical basis for my thinking on this but, I feel that I need the water to protect my kidneys and liver

    Hot coco

I understand about the tea, I got sick of it too and haven't had any for quite a long time.  I'm not on Folfox so can tolerate the cold drinks so don't share your problem on that.

The room temp idea should help you, that's what I did when I had trouble with cold on Folfox.

    Good luck!

    Roasted Carob Powder

I've tried it cold, but they say it is also good hot.

Garden of Life has just released a Turneric powder called Golden Milk (I think thats what its called) that can also be served hot.  Hot and healthy. I haven't tried that, either.

I drink English Ovaltine - different than the sugar loaded American version and tastes so much better. I get it from Amazon in big containers.

You can warm up cordials. Look for healthy ones though, they are also too sugary.

I also like Cranberry Juice warmed up.

Hot apple cider.  Not something I drink, but its hot.

    Good luck!

I haven’t been able to drink any tea for 18 months for this very reason! This will sound weird, but during chemo I survived for a long time on large amounts of watermelon that was warmed up in the microwave, and also microwaved grapefruit juice a little warmer than room temperature.

    You should be careful about

You should be careful about grapefruit juice as it interferes with some medicines

Thanks for all the suggestions. I haven't heard of some of those - I'll have to check them out.

    Water

Flavored water that was room temp is good as you can change it out with like Crystal Light with several different flavors or something else.  Also hot chocolate was good for me.

    Hi

My drink of choice has turned out to be Gatorade, the G2 with less sugar. It works for me. It does have sugar and electrolytes too. With nausea and such the Gatorade just seems to work.

    Good luck!

    warm drinks

I like a small amount of honey with lemon juice in hot water. It's good for colds and the sniffles as well. Does peppermint tea fall into the tired of tea category? I don't really consider it tea because it doesn't have tea leaves, it is mostly an herbal concoction. Or you could try dropping some peppermint oil in hot water. I've also used cinnamon. I just recently got some elderberry syrup from a neighbor and put a teaspoon of that in hot or cold water. Elderberry is supposed to have good immunity boost effects.

I hope you find something you like,

    Teas

There are so many herbal teas out there - I know, I think our little shop sells them all -  Anyway, there are teas with Curcumin, Ginger they have got to be good for you.

As for me, I've tried them, but I just can't get my damaged tongue around the taste. The only tea I can drink is Tazo Peach and I drink it cold.

I also drink allot of hot milk with a tad sugar. I drink Whole milk, always, and don't think hot 2% would be very tasty. A bit like drinking hot milky water.

I assume your on a chemo with

I assume your on a chemo with Oxypalatin? Sorry, I haven't been on in ages and I'm a bit behind on what's going on on here. I also drank hot apple cider. And hot chocolate. But I got so sick of anything hot after a while. I'm not a coffee drinker so that was out. I tried different teas, too, like chai and Earl Grey to have some variety.

    Good luck!
