no further treatment

Hello.  I had 4 cycles of TCHP plus Neulasta.  I did not tolerate it very well.  Proceeded to surgery.  Good news - pCR (no cancer found by pathologist in breast tissue from mastectomy nor in lymph nodes 0/5) !  Now I do not think I need further treatment with Herceptin as it makes me sick and I do not tolerate the Neulasta.  What is your experience ?

    Thanks.  I have talked with

Thanks.  I have talked with my cancer team and there really is no protocol.  The good news is that the chemo seems to have killed the cancer.  I am 63 and have other health problems, so I have decided no further treatment.  This is the second mastectomy for me (first one at age 42).  I take no medicines at all because I react adversely to everything.  So I have decided to just smile, keep working and weaving and playing with my dogs and cats and hoping for the best !  I will go for periodic checks (chest wall and lymph nodes) and have possible surgery if anything is ever found again.  I know this is not the decision that other people may make for themselves, but I feel it is best for me.

    Chemo or no chemo

I am 72 years old.  I had a skin saving rastectomy and 2 lymph nodes remove.  The lymph nodes were positive, so I had a second surgery and 15 lymph nodes were removed.  They were all negative for cancer.  So I guess I am cancer free for now.  I chose not to have radiation and have chosen not to have chemo.  Since mine is estrogen positive, my oncologist is talking about long term hormone theray which I am pretty sure I will say not to.  Right now the only issues I have are the drain from my second surgery and possibly some lymphodema in my arm.  I can deal with that.  AS you say this is not the decision that other people may make, depending on where they are in their lives, but is what I fee is best for me.  Thank you for posting.

There is no right or wrong. We all make choices and we pray and hope for the best. God bless and take care.
