thanks for responding. Hope your ascites clears up soon. I have a friend who has had the procedure done twice. She said the only pain was the initial needle inserted for numbing. Hope you have better luck next time:).

Parp trial
Hi,
Please let me know how the trial goes. I asked my Dr about Parp Inhibitors and he said the Drs couldn't get their hands on it here. I hope it works for you. It was on the news last night. Very Promising. Please let me know if there are any side effects associated with it.
Good Luck! Please keep us posted. Sending positive energy....Michele

I contacted University of Michigan in Ann Arbor about the Cediranib and Olaparib trial. Yesterday I received reply from Dr. R. Buckanovich that "there are currently only 1-2 slots available in the trial before the trial closes so he cannot guarantee the trial will be open in a week as multiple universities are enrolling patients". Unfortunately they don't take my insurance.
So if anyone wants to enroll, hurry up.

I thought that by the time I get all insurance paperwork together, I will recur and do PARP instead of chemo. I am pretty sure that it will work for me too, because it was originally tested and proven to be working on BRCA1/2+ patients.
Outside of this trial the only way I found to buy PARP online is crazy expensive ($340/100mg or $2,720/day). If it comes to that, I am better off participating in the trial that covers the cost of the drug itself and paying out of pocket for a few CT scans / blood tests.

Ok, I see. I knew they didn't do maintenance . also knew you were NED. That's why I was wondering. Hopefully you will not recurr.
i didn't know it was even sold online. I take 400 mg per day. No nausea , no problems so far.
Keep researching. If there's a way you will find it.

Hello “Dkrob”
Hopefully you will be able to identify with others who have had the drugs you mention. I see that you are in the 2nd phase of the two meds - Olaparib & cediranib (PARP trial). Since you just joined today, you might not be aware of how different postings may or may not be answered. You have entered a discussion topic that started back in 2013. No one is actively posting in this forum today. You seemed to address 2 Timothy 1 7 and asked how they were doing. They have not posted anything on the site 09-05-2016. This leaves me not knowing “how things turned out.” May I suggest you post underneath the Prostate Cancer forum? I do know that Olaparib has been approved by the FDA this past year, and my oncologist suggest I consider it as a maintenance drug once I exhaust my Carboplatin/Paclitaxel (Taxol) regimen.
Just thought you need to know that you probably are not going to get a reply from this site. The way things work here is, “Click on the picture” and up will come their “About Me” page. You will see two dates. The first one will be the date that person first joined the site. Underneath that date you will see the date they last posted anything online. So in the future, before you seek to inquire of any particular person, it would be wise to check the date they were last online. You really want to talk to someone who is actively posting, and that’s how you can tell.
We wish everyone the very best outcome possible, no matter the cancer, and I wish the same for you. Just thought I should let you know where you may find more information.

Cediranib and Olaparib
Hi! I was on this trial from Feb 2017 thru May 2018. I took both meds the whole time. I took 2 Cediranib in the mornings, 2 Olaparibs an hour later, then 2 more Olaparibs at night (12 hrs later). The main side effect I had was some diarrhea. Misc other things that popped up here and there, but nothing ongoing or concerning. Diarrhea was manageable with immodium. Definitely worth looking into it. I had to go once a month to Dr appt to check labs and replace bottles of both meds. Labs monthly. CT scans every 2 months. Worked very well. I had spots shrink and/or go away until May. I had a little growth of a spot that wasn't much, but just enough to kick me off the trial. Now on another trial, immunotherapy. Good luck!!
