Latest psa post prostate removal
I just received my latest Psa results and I guess I need to know whether to start worrying. My prostate was removed last October. My first Psa in January was <0.02. My second test in April was again <0.02. In July, my Doctor ordered the wrong Psa test, which came back <.1. He had me take another last week which came back .04. My question is whether this rise indicates the need for salvage radiation and hormone therapy, or whether it could be a normal deviation. What is the threshold for beginning the next phase? I am sure I will be talking to the Doctor's office shortly, but I would like to be forearmed.
Thank you,
Eric

The lowest threshold is 0.2
The lowest threshold is 0.2. Guidelines recommend to start salvage radiation between 0.2 and 0.5. If you show a clear progress based on a number of PSA values, you may start below 0.2. E.g. 0.02, 0.04, 0.05, 0.06, 0.08 ....
On the other hand, the PSA value often stabilizes below 0.4, so radiating below that threshold can be overtreatment. You will never know for sure.
