My husband has a tumor in his bile duct

in Colorectal Cancer #1

i just can’t deal anymore, he was doing so well. He just had a liver resection in May i don’t understand how they didn’t see this, or how it got there so fast. I feel like this is the beginning of the end, and I want to throw up. They simply said Adenocarcinoma but they did not say if it was colon cancer spread or a new cancer. of course the surgeon won’t say anything without knowing for sure so more waiting, more time I look things up, more bad news. It never ends. It just never ends.

    Praying for healing

    So sorry for the bad news. I have been battling crc since 2006 with original and two recurrences. Don't give up hope. I had a liver resection in 2013 and cancer was discovered again this year in a lymph node near my lungs and in an upper vertebrae. After more treatment and now maintenance treatments, I am in remission again. All we can do is to stay strong and hope there will be a day in the future without cancer. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow.

    I would be more positive

    if it was colon cancer in there, that I know will respond to the hai pump therapy, but if it's bile duct cancer, there is horrible survival odds and it doesn’t respond to chemo.  No one seems to know the answer to this yet. The waiting is excruciating.

    Poor hubby is not getting any breaks, and of course, what happens to your man happens to you. My heart hurts for you, and all of the stresses that you have to deal with each day.  You know there is little one can say, other than you are all in my thoughts and prayers. 

    Your strength will see you through, as it has done before, though it is being sorely tried.

    My heart aches to hear this news.  It is just so unfair, but I have confidence that you and your husband will face this challenge with courage just as you have all previous challenges.  I am so sorry.

    I'm just so sorry to hear this.  It just doesn't seem fair that it is one thing after another as you have fought so hard to get him through all this surgery.  My heart just hurts for you, him and your family.  May God's peace and strength be with you.  You should wait until the surgeon gives you more information and then go from there.  Please don't go on the internet anymore.  It's not accurate and your husband's situation is not what is on the internet.  He is an individual with his own set of circumstances.  Wishing and praying for you all.

    I don't have much input

    As I've only had a colon resection and a lung met removed but please try to be strong despite the shortcomings.  I know it seems hard but you can overcome this.  Have faith.My thoughts are with you and your family.

    i can always count on you guys to lift me up a bit. So bad news he has a tiny bit of pancreatitis right now from the ERCP, it’s manageable no fever, minimum pain, so not hospital yet. He was already on an antibiotic so that is helping. 

    one of the great things about Sloan is you can email them, so I did and his surgeon’s assistant called. So first off they of course without pathology can’t be certain, but in there opinion it’s not bile duct cancer it’s colon cancer spread into the duct. This is a big relief, of course it could be but he said he didn’t think it was. So I finally saw the mri, sloan thinks it’s 4 tumors, yale read the mri and thinks one possibly two. Either way systemic chemo does not touch inside the ducts, luckily hepatic artery infusion pump chemo does and he has one. She also thinks it was just bad timing it happened to block after the first dose, it didn’t cause it or make it worse. In fact it should shrink them down or kill them all together, maybe not curative but definitely more time. 

    A little more positive, very disappointed since things were so good but hopefully he will feel better soon.

    Little bit of good news/not so good.  Thanks for the update.  Always thinking about you two.  Wait until the doctor decides what they want to do next.  You are a great wife and caregiver.
