Her2 New Treatment for Serous Carcinoma
Good Afternoon Ladies:
I wanted to share this information with you about new treatment plan for serous carcinoma. This treatment is used in breast cancer.
I just had my 3rd 3 month checkup and the PA shared this with me. I don't know how many of you undergoing treatment can have this as another option. I copied a link related to this. Maybe, many of you know about this? Just wanted to share it just in case.

Article Mentioned
I had seen something on this before. At my last appointment with my GYN/onc., I was seen by a nurse practitioner, not the doctor. I showed her the article and asked if he knew about it. I also asked about getting an HE-4 test done. She cam back after talking to him and said "he doesn't do the HE4 test" and I got no feedback whatsoever on this article. I'd also brought up taking Metformin, and she relayed the message that he'd found no benefit to taking Metformin for my type of cancer in the clinical trials he'd done on it. I was left with the impression that they both thought I was overstepping my boundaries even mentioning this stuff, which I've never had happen in this office before.
I was wondering how many women saw the story on TV today about how Quest Diagnostics failed to report a lot of cancer diagnoses in women in Ireland. Quest was where I would have gone for the HE-4 if my GYN/onc. had been willing to order it.

The P.A. at my check-up gave me this information. Too bad if your doctor thinks you are stepping out of bounds! It is your body and your life. He may not even be current with the results of this research as well as other doctors as this recent.
Hope things work.
