Friday the 13th

in Uterine/Endometrial Cancer #1

It has been going on since Friday the 13th. I had a CT scan, then a PET scan because they found a growth on my pancreas. This was there a long time ago. However in the past three years it has doubled in volume. This is a lymph node. I was diagnosed with non hotchkins lymphoma in 2011. This is too much to absorb. Now, the growth on my pancreas is worrying the doctors. They also found a growth in my column. I will have a colonoscopy and an endoscopy at the same time to figure out what is wrong with me. At least the PET scan said I had nothing on the brain. Thank God, I didn’t even know I had one of those. At least I am not going crazy. I need to keep my sense of humour. I have been praying a lot lately. Only time will tell.

    Waiting is hard

    You really have been through a lot these past few years. The colonoscopy and endoscopy should clarify if anything is amiss in those areas. I know it's hard to wait, but one step at a time…

    Waiting is hard

    I should have this happen in a week or so. Am I too impatient? I know this did not happen overnight. However, i have been staying very positive and it is one of the more important thing. Thank you all for your support.

    Timing

    I think most of us struggle with wanting to "know" what is going on as soon as possible and dreading hearing that it might be cancer. I didn't have the number of health issues you've had these past few years, but it took about a month from my initial appointment to report my vaginal bleeding to receiving my preliminary cancer diagnosis after a D&C/hysteroscopy. In between these dates were a couple of attempted, but not completed endometrial biopsies, and an ultrasound.

    Then it was about five more weeks until my surgery. Before that surgery I had an initial meeting with the gynecological oncologist, a CT-scan and a colonoscopy.

    So all in all, it took about two months from first appointment to surgery.

    Timing

    i will go for my colonoscopy and endoscopy Thursday next week. I was reading yesterday that before treatment gets started, it can be up to two months. The strange thing is that it no longer feels real. They tell you it is urgent, but i was not ready to have urgent last two months. I was afraid at first, and now, I seem to be ok, whatever the verdict. Is this normal?

    I am thankful that I am in Australia and have left the US as I would really hate to have to deal with health insurance companies. I am appalled about the stories that come out of the US. I thank God that I will not have to sell my house to have my treatment because here, it is free. I read all your stories and feel your pain.
