Endometrial Cancer stage 4

Hello everyone, 

I am fairly new to this forum, and I just want to tell you all how extremely brave and amazing each and everyone of you is! Thank you all for showing so much support to one another and sharing your stories and experiences! Today, I would like to share mine...

Last month, my older sister was diagnosed with endometrial cancer...two days ago we found out that it is stage 4 and metasized to her lymph nodes in the supraclavicular area as well as extensive lymphadenopathy in the aortic region with nodule in the thyroid area and a tiny midlung pulmonary nodule, also they mentioned  diffuse intense tracer bone marrow activity, which they say may be due to her anemia. To say that these news shattered our world is saying nothing at all...she is only 38 years old...she is scheduled to start chemo this week in hopes to shrink her uterine and ovarian tumors in order to remove them and in hopes to get the cancer spread in the lymphs to shrink...hearing these news is ripping my insides apart...she has lost about 40 pounds since November and is in continuous pain...

I don't know what to think, what to feel, or how to pray...are there any endometrial cancer stage 4 survivors out here...please share your stories... ❤

    Same situation as your sister

    I'm so sorry to hear about your sister, Little_Sister757. The terrible news and continuous pain are a lot to deal with.

    I'm in a similar boat, though I'm older than your sister. I was diagnosed in January, told it was probably Stage 1, then after my February hysterectomy was surgically staged at Stage 2, contained in the uterus. After pushing repeatedly for a CT scan, I learned a week or two ago that it's spread to my lungs -- Stage 4B. I start chemo next week.

    There are Stage 4 survivors on this forum and I'm sure they'll be along soon to chime in.

    Today is the one-year anniversary of my surgery.  I was thought to be Stage 1A and turned out to be stage IVB.  There is hope!

    little_sister, as you can see

    little_sister, as you can see from the other wonderful women, there is hope.  Your sister is a statistic of ONE.  None of us fight this alone.   We need the love and support of our family and friends.   What a good sister you are.  Your sister is lucky to have you.

    Thank you for those kind words, and I am so glad I was able to find this website, some of these stories are beyond amazing, I wish everyone to have a strong support system and no matter what to keep going forth!

    They decided to start her on

    They decided to start her on immunotherapy with Keytruda today. According to her oncologist hematologist, gynecologist oncologist, and  along with the gyno onco speaking to other oncologist specialiats and academics during a conference for gynecology cancers, they all recommended Keytruda for her case...I've been reading up a lot on it and am just hoping for the best...

    It's Baaaack!

    It's Baaack!

    In this case I AM THE LITTLE SISTER.  My two older sisters grieve for me (as well as my loving partner).  I can't stand being the cause of their sadness.  I met with Oncologist yesterday and she confirmed what I guess I already knew- I am having a recurrence.  I have been in discomfort since the start of the year.  Pain in my abdomen has been constant.  Results of PET scan show scattered tumors present in the cavity of my abdoment.  They are small, and although they have metastisized, has not yet invaded any organs.  I guess that is the good news.  I was told that the next step is once-a-week chemo (taxol/avastin) for 6 months.  AAARRRR!!!  I surely did not get much NED time since last treatment was October 2017.

    Does anyone have words of wisdom?  I read somewhere that there are survivors on this thread.  It would be good to hear from you.  I am demoralized, but trying to push forward and keep faith.

    Hi Rose

    So sorry to here about your reoccurrence. I only had 8 months of NED so I know your disappointment. Mine also reoccurred peritoneal area. Megace is working for me. Perhaps inquire if it might be an option for you. Good luck.

    I don’t have much to add here except I am pulling for the Keytruda to work for your sister.  It is good to hear that some doctors are starting to use it in the case of endometrial cancer.

    I’ll be watching this thread. Unfortunately, my mom‘s second opinion done at MSKCC concluded she has Stage IVB.  Her original oncologist said Stage III.  While I am bugged by the original doctor’s conclusion, the good news is the treatment is the same.  That said, I have been  upset for days.  The 5 year survival rates are not good for this stage.  However, I am staying strong in front of my mom.  She has not asked the doctor “how long do I have” and while I want to know, I respect her too much to ask the question.  My sole focus now is enco her to fight and getting her to her appointments (she wanted to stay local but we agreed to go to MSKCC going forward).

    Hi Little_sister757! I'm Stage IV and will be 44 next week. I have 4 children, to include a 2yr old and a 1yr old grandbaby girl. This cancer HAS to be a speedbump! I have too much to do! I had surgery last August. I did 3 chemo, 52 full abdominal radiation, 3 brachy therapy, then just finished 3 more chemo a week ago. I'm going to find out the results of my PET/CT Scan Friday.

    I've read the stories of women on here with the same histology as me....serous and clear cells; and some have been doing well for 7, 11, and more years. So that tells me that those 5 year survival rate numbers are not going to put ME in a box! Hopefully the same can be said for your sister ;)

    I'm in area code 757....are we neighbors? It would be REALLY nice to meet up at one of the support groups around here. I've been wanting to go. Maybe we could help each other:)

    Oh! I wanted to suggest that y'all looking for survivor stories...use the search tool. I think it's in the upper right corner. I used it early on, and have utilized it when I needed to get positive vibes;) You can type anything

    IV's on other boards, too

    I used the search term Stage IV for the entire site and found LOTS of uplifting stories from people across a broad range of cancers. I bookmarked some of them to refer back to when I'm feeling badly, and it always helps. Maybe we should do a Stage IV roll call, just to see who shows up? I know I would !
