5 Months Post
Well, haven't been on here for a while, keep forgetting my password, lol. Anyway, I was Squamous cell base of tongue with 1 lymph node involved, finished 35 rads and cisplatin Nov 15th. Tongue tumor had long disapperaed, but the lymph node had not shrunk at all. Drs waited til 2 months post and ordered a PET scan, telling me I needed a neck dissection for a salvage job. However scan showed node had shrunk to 2 centimeters from 4 in the last week, so I asked if I could put off surgery, they said yes. Now at 5 months node is 1.2 centimeters with no activity, PET scan this week showed no activity anywhere, and now I am on surveilance, that's what they call it, so, been back to work, construction, since Feb 15, and heavy workouts at gym since Jan 15th. In 2 weeks a much needed fly fishing vacation in Northern NH for Salmon. All seems well.

MikefromWinthrop,
MikefromWinthrop,
You may need to use an easy password (password), never logoff or just change it every time you use it. It sounds like the additional time helped you to the “no activity” and that sounds good (it sounds like NED). At least you are working out and working construction. I hope you feel good. Now on to the fishing, is it a secret place (NH) or one you can share?
Congratulations!
Matt

Good for you Mike
I finished on the 17th so I'm right behind you and pretty much had the same diagnosis except mine originated in the tonsil. I am also worried on my next apt. with the ENT that they will want to do that dreaded neck disection so maybe I'll get lucky also.
I am also back at the gym! Feels great.

Small victories Mike.
Sounds like I’m about two weeks ahead of you. Same deal with one node affecte. Two pet scans clean now. I’m having issues with diet and I’m looking for suggestions. I lost a lot of weight whil on the G-tube but have been free of it just over two months now. Are you eating anywhere normal yet, if there is such a thing? Is there a recommended diet anywhere on here?
Ps, caught a beauti 25” rainbow on a black woolly booger in NM last week. Not a lot fishing won’t cure.
