My CBD and THC experience so far...
I finally got my medicinal cannabis oil a few days ago. Quite the process here. First, I had to see a special clinic, then get referred to a doctor who can prescribe it, then have the Rx sent to the supplier, then order it, then get it delivered. There were issues with the payment because they changed the amount twice so ther whole process was several weeks. That being said, I wanted to share how it's working in case it's helpful for someone.
I got the oils but the option was also product that can be smoked or vaped. I've never smoked anything in my life and my mets are in my lung so oil is how I went. It's dropped sublingually and I have something to drink right after to get rid of the taste.
I have a CBD based oil for the morning. It has just 1% THC and 23% CBD. It's supposed to give me energy, help with pain and anxiety, I think that's about it. At night I take an oil that is 26% THC and also has Indica in it. It's supposed to relieve pain, help me sleep, help with appetitie and nausea, reduce anxiety.
I am finding so far that it really has increased my quality of life. My pain is less, I sleep like a log and only got up twice last night to go to the bathroom and three times the night before. Typically I get up 6 to 10 times. I have almost zero or very little nausea. I was lying there the first night thinking about how I had no nausea and what a great feeling it was. I'm perkier in the daytime and am not so dopey in the evening. The best part is how much better I feel physically. I'm still nowhere near normal but I do feel much better than I did. That makes tasting this crap worth it.
I'm not going to be dramatic and say that I feel hugely better but there is definitely an improvement. And it's better today than yesterday so maybe it'll keep improving? I really didn't know what to expect, if anything, and I'm pleasantly surprised.
If anyone is considering trying something like this I'd say go for it. If it helps at all it's worth it. I can't say I feel anything like a high but I've never tried drugs so I wouldn't know what that would be like anyway. I don't feel any differently mentally, anyway. I'm glad I gave it a shot. I will continue with this as long as it helps me have a better life.
It's ironic because I am one of the biggest anti-drug and anti-pot people around. Now here I am, encouraging it.

I am so glad it’s helping!
i hope it keeps getting better you deserve a break! Your not promoting for fun, it’s medicinal, which is what it really is for. I wish my husband would consider it but he is afraid he will lose his security clearance at work.

Improvement
I'd say if you can get some improvement, like you said, than good for you and go for it. Glad that it is helping you and hope that it continues to improve.

Happy to hear it helps
Happy to hear it helps. I guess one of the few good things about our condition is that it keeps opening us up to new perspectives.

Last night I slept right
Last night I slept right through the night for the first time in a very long time. One of the best parts of this is the lack of nausea. I've lived with varying levels of nausea for almost a year now and to have periods where it's completely gone is really wonderful. When I do get it it's nowhere near as bad as it was. Just that makes taking this stuff worth it. I haven't had a nap for a couple of days, either, so I must be getting some energy.
I am so very grateful that I found something to make me feel better. Normal is still a long way away but this is really good for now. Summer's coming and maybe we'll enjoy it this year.

Glad the CBD and THC help
I had some edibles after my diagnosis, and they really helped. Cookies baked with green flakes. I only ate it in the evening because they made me sleepy, and I did get a little high which I hated. It really helped with pain, nausea and sleep. I would like to have the benefit of the medicine without the high so I could use it during the day if needed.
It is finally legal where I live, but not available through dispensaries yet. When it is, I will definitely get some to help when I have nausea, pain or sleep problems. The side effects were minimal, just got a bit dizzy. Much better than constipation from oxycotin or hydrocodone.
I didn't like the taste either. Why don't they just put this stuff in capsules like fish oil?

I have an ostomy and take straight codeine to slow it down. Otherwise liquid goes straight through me and I'm dehydrated. The last few days I'm taking half as much. The codeine also helps with pain but my pain has been cut by probably a third to a half. It's still there but so much less.
I'm just so releived that this is helping me. I was so scared it wouldn't because for some people it doesn't. Then I'd have had nothing as an alternative. As I said, just having the nausea pretty much gone is huge.
I hope it helps you when you get some Joan.

I was against it too...
...until I started radiation and chemo. THC oil, smoking it, and edibleshave helped me so much. I am so glad to hear they are improving your quality of life, Jan. Excellent news. Sleeping well and having an appetite help me feel truly alive.

cannabis
Medical cannabis was not available when I was getting treatment. However, I did smoke some on a few occasions when I needed it. It's now legal in my state and I will definitely try to get it should I need more treatment.
It should be readily available to patients who need it. I don't understand why it's so hard to get. Doctors have prescribed horrible opiods to manage pain and this has caused an epidemic. Cannabis is a much better option.

Update. My family doctor
Update. My family doctor wants me to try Nabilone. He says I should get the exact same effect as the oils but it's in pill form and will be covered by insurance. So I'm going to try that for a few days instead. I'd much rather not have that taste in my mouth and have to pay full price for it. I'll report back as to how it's doing.

Nabilone
I've never heard of that. Is that an appetite enhancer and nausea suppressor? Exactly what can this help with. There are so many now that have medical cards and wondering if this is an easier way to get relief without having to go through the expense of the other form. I've heard that the other form can be very expensive even with a medical card, but I've not had to do that. Hoping that this really helps you out - you deserve a lot of relief.

Nabilone vs cannabis
Here's the FDA info on nabilone
https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2006/018677s011lbl.pdf
It is a synthetic and has side effects you will want to watch carefully including interaction with other drugs.
I don't find the taste to be bad but I make my own oil. I live in New Mexico and am able to grow my own. My neighbor suggested that I use gel caps if the flavor was bad. After learning how to remove the chlorphyll the taste is much better. Most of mine is turned to butter and SPECIAL COOKIES are made of it. I make a batch and make the cookies 1/2 size so one or two cookies after dinner and a couple hours later I feel the relief set in and go to bed. And yes you can do the math to find out how much is in each cookie mine is about 5mg each.
Either way start low and work up is the best advice I was given.

We will be making our own as well. Have 2 large ACDC strain about 2 months away from harvest. Do you use a rice cooker? This will be our first attempt.
Jan, the taste is gnarly, but I got used to it. You can put it in a capsule too. One young man I met put it on a cracker and said that helped. I sleep so soundly with the combo of Rick Simpson oil and about 12mg THC in an edible form.

I grow and make my own Coconut Oil..
I grow my own marijuana and make my own Coconut Oil Infused with Indicas. Coconut Oil has a very high fat content and absorbs more THC than Butter. I use a Magical Butter machine about $175 online. It lets you make very consistent oil or butter without a mess.
For pain I take a 50mg CanaCookie and an Ibuprofen. I don’t take opioids and get relief equivalent to a 5mg Norco and it lasts longer and NO constipation.
As many of you, I take 15 pills a day and don’t need anymore.
Love you all - get well soon
