Intro / Venting / Support (Chemo for Life)
I want to share my daughters story:
My daughter is 32 (non-smoker). She was diagnosed with NSCLC in 2012 (stage 3). A couple of months later a golf ball sized tumor was found in her brain. She under went surgery, radiation, and chemo. The cancer went into remission. In 2016, the cancer returned to the right lung and right side of the brain. More radiation and targeted therapy. In 2017 the targeted therapy stopped working and she was put on avastin, didn't work, moved to perm/carbo. This will be every 3 weeks for the rest of her life.
Hearing that the chemo will continue for the rest of her life seems surreal. Here's the thing. She seems healthy. The cancer seems to be contained to only one area of one of the lungs and is only showing small changes in the brain. If you met her you would never know she has stage 4 cancer undergoing chemo for life (well maybe you would since you are probably familiar with this).
What is the typical experience for those who have been put on chemo for life?
The fact that she has cancer and is undergoing lifetime chemo scares me. I don't want to lose my daughter.
Will this chemo keep her alive for the next 50 years???

Second and Third Opinions?
I've not heard of being on chemo for life before. But I'm not an expert by any means. I would suggest she should get at least a second opinion. Also post your question on Inspire.com; there are a lot of very informed people on that site and it is a move active site for lung cancer. God bless you and your family.
