Really happy for you that it's done.  My pre-op IV's went well, but a few days in at the hospital, they had to replace them and I had the same thing happen.  Lots of pokes until they finally got it.  Heal and rest.  Try to walk a lot if you can.  It helps.

    So much pain :(

I've been up walking, peeing just fine after catheter removed, but that gas they pump in you is awful. Then I've blown through every IV. I've been stuck ten times and they've given up. I'm on oral oxycodone 10mg to try and calm down the gas spasms and incisional pain. I knew it would hurt, but I wasn't expecting the excruciating pain in my shoulder and across my chest. Hope tomorrow is better :(

    Yes it's a terrible pain

Yes it's a terrible pain I had no idea what was causing it until a nurse came on shift and told me. I thought at the time how terrible it must be for little children to experience it.

Try massaging the area it might give you some brief relief. When you start walking it should dissipate.

Bad news about the IVs. Are you keeping well hydrated? Make sure you are drinkng plenty of water I suppose you are already being supervised with this but it might help the IVs as well.

If you are still in pain when you read this I think you should ask if you can add some paracetamol / acetaminophen (not sure what it is called where you are, it is probably acetaminophen).

You can have 4gm paracetamol / acetaminophen per day, there is none in the oxycodone tablets is that right? So you can have 2 x 500mg tablets 4 times per day.

From my perspective it would be better if you shifted the focus of your pain relief to the 4gm of paracetamol / acetaminophen per day and used the oxycodone as a boost (they work well together).

This makes it easier to taper off your pain medications as you get better because cutting down the amount of paracetamol / acetaminophen you take each day is easier than stopping using oxycodone. It also means you have some medication for lighter pain while also having a tactic to deal with stronger pain if it arises.

Constant use of paracetamol / acetaminophen can cause liver damage over time but if you don't have anything wrong with your liver then it will be fine for a few weeks.

Also, make sure you don't take paracetamol / acetaminophen along with any other medication which contains paracetamol / acetaminophen as this might mean you are exceeding the recommeded daily maximum.

Physically you are healing and getting better but the CO2 is playing tricks with your nerves making you feel this pain. It will start to ease off soon if it hasn't already.

Keep your positive attitude you will be up and firing soon.
