i have a question for all the women so no peeking from men. Lol

Has the chemo affected your menstral cycle? During my chemo treatment between September 2017 till my last one of February 2018, I have experienced some irregular cycles where I would be late in some months and the month of November and February were completely skipped. My cycles were always in every 26 days. I have also experienced menopausal symptoms of feeling hot one minute then cold the next. I could be reaching my menopause age. I'm 48. Im just curious if chemo could be the culprit.

    Mine had stopped at age 47 and was diagnosed at age 50 so personally I've not experienced it.  However, my friend said that her's had become irregular going through that so it isn't unheard of.  Treatment tends to throw much of our bodies out of whack so it could be coincidental or due to it.  Let your doctor know though.

    I think I had just become pre-menopausal before my diagnosis. Where the periods skip a month or so. I have been someone who spkips due to stress so no really sure. My first chemo they gave me a massive iron drip, and my period started two days later. That was November. I haven't had a period since. I am haowever going through the monthly symptoms of that feeling I am about to start, the munchies right before, and water weight. I am 51 though, so menopause would be correct for me, but I have been thinkng that the chemo has accelerated it.

    And I definitely have the hot

    And I definitely have the hot flashes. I have a fan by my bed for that reason. Interestingly, the fan helps without killing me on the cold sensitivity

    All done, thanks to chemo

    Mine stopped dead on my second treatment. Chemo induced menopause is what they called it. 

    Of course, I was at an age and stage where it was getting time for them to stop.

    And NO, I DON'T miss them.

    Ok so no chemo here

    but Lily we are the exact same age and the same things are going on here. So although it’s most likely the chemo it would probably be going on without it too. Fun!

    I had a hysterectomy 8 years

    I had a hysterectomy 8 years ago so, no for me. Thank goodness. I'd had endometriosis for years and the hysterectomy was a blessing.

    I definitely don't miss it. I was just wondering if the chemo "induced my menopause" (thanks Tru lol). Not that I'm planning any more kids either. I have to face it...I'm getting old. LOL!

    Abita, the ginger and the black and white ones were recently adopted. They were going to the shelter and oh no, I won't have that. The black and white one thinks he's a dog and he was walked by his previous owner. I was told that he was a hurricane rescued before, although I don't know which one nor which year.  He loves to eat and he would clean the other cats' bowls too. LOL! The ginger one is very affectionate. He would jump on my lap when I'm sitting on my throne. O_O LMAO! I love all 3 of them!

    From what I remember, I think it was still regular

    But I may have forgotten.  Or probably got delayed by a few days, but never skipped a month.

     

    What I do remember very clearly is how the menstruation really loves to come at the best times.  I had my period the day after my colectomy! Great, I had the surgery to think of, my body was still recovering, but I had to deal with it too.  As if standing up was that easy after surgery.  Gah.  And during my first PET scan! Really, I was already sitting down waiting for the IV to be injected and I felt it.  Really, I swear, I only loved menstruation when my then boyfriend (now husband) were doing it and I didn't want to get pregnant.  I would literally push myself down as if pushing it to come out already so I can confirm I'm not pregnant. lol Now......its really quite a hassle.

    I had to read the post.  Obviously, I have never gone through a menstrual cycle, but I have had road rage and I think they are similar sometimes (just teasing).

    The comment by plsletitrain brought back memories from the late 60's.  I made so many promises to God back then and they were all answered with a menstrual cycle.  The balance of my life has been honoring those promises.  My high school sweetheart has been my wife since 1972 and we have been blessed with three children and one grandchild.

    My goal is to stay positive and happy inspite of cancer, injecting humor whenever I can!!

    You are fortunate that your wife handled all those monthlys as I'm not sure a man could LOL.  I'm not sure if road rage counts but PMS can make you fiesty though.  Thanks for the post - it's good to hear from a man on how they think what constitutes "comparable." LOL Wink

    I was 42 and it completely stopped mine the minute I started chemo.  I don't know if it would have come back because eventually I had my ovaries removed but I had already been 6 months without it.

    After ny reaction to the oxiplatin, I mentioned to practical nurse that I stopped having periods and started having hot flashes when I started chemo, and she said, yeah that happens. This was before we tried again to see if the reaction was to the drugs.
