Intestines are playing musical chairs now....
Dear Friends:
In the past week, I've had some problems with the bathroom habit if you get my drift....
I am on stool softeners and maybe over doing it but in fear of that dreaded Rectocele the doctor warned me about.
I am reduced to a very watery stool and lots of bloating and gas, which I am sure if all my doing.
I told him I feel things moving around. He just laughed. After reading other sites, I seem I am not alone.
The sigmoid colon does move according to a lot of women and has to find a new home.
I was informed my uterus was small and dried, but nevertheless, I still feel like things are swimming around in there.
In the past week, I saw bright red blood on toilet paper. This has upset me enormously.
My husband is going to call his GI doctor. Does this ever end?
I have a history of very bad hemmorroids. I went to the ER years ago because I couldn't stop bleeding. And I've had colonoscopy but not for many years. I can't take the prep. I throw up. I went to a few doctors that did an anuscopic exam and told me I have both internal and external hemmorroids. So I have bled before but as a rule, I do not. If anything, a few pin points on toilet paper once in a while.
Since this hysterectomy, I am now 3 weeks post op and saw more than just pin points on the toilet paper. The first was last Monday. I had no pain but was shocked and very upset. And yesterday it happened again only a lot less. Could I be irratating the piles?
My husband says I need colonoscopy but I doubt any GI doctor would want to do this now with just 3 weeks post op. I am swollen and have sutures stll hanging out. Still have my 2 lumpy blood clots on the stomach too.
Has anyone had bleeding or a funny feeling? I sure hope this isn't colon cancer now. I can't handle much more.
This morning I have pain (like a dull ache) down in the rectal area. I hope I don't have to have a BM today. I told the doctor it hurts when I do, he said it will for a while.
Things just aren't the same for me now. Does this all pass?
My apologies for people who have bigger fish to fry fighting cancer. I know this seems like nothing. So sorry for the post. But I am just wondering what to do? I think I will see a GI doctor but boy, am I sick of doctors.

bleeding
the bright red bleeding is most likely from hemmoroids or irritation sweetie...maybe back off the stool softeners a bit and see if that reduces the other issue and let your gut heal a bit...
I did feel like my intestines were re-settling themselves after my hysterectomy. My uterus was so swollen I'm sure things needed to rearrange a bit...
hang in there...eat healthy (which I know you do...so that helps a lot) and drink a lot of water and maybe things will settle down...

thank you Anice!
Glad to see you are back. Thanks for the reply. I was thinking that I would wait a few days until I resume taking anything. I have always had constipation anyway.
My husband called the GI doctor. He won't even see me without a referral. Those doctors! They want me to call my primary care. But in the words of President Trump: "he's fired." I fired him a while ago for some reasons. Too much to get into here. So I just called the surgeon that did the hysterectomy. Maybe he has some ideas.

good idea to call the surgeon...a good doctor will never mind that you call with questions...mine are angels about it...
I'm so tired from the show and eating college cafeteria food for a week (we perform at a local universtiy). I slept 10 hours last night and have been lazy in my chair all day. I left all the show laundry at the school and decided today I was just going to relax after 3 weeks of very very long days...last week was 14-16 hour days every day. I don't know how I did it last year with the chemo. Last year I did the show and 36 hours later I was in the chemo chair for round 3...this year I am grateful not to be! Leading lady got the flu but managed to perform (she's amazing) but I was in her face a lot and had her spitting cough drops in my hand so we shall see if my less than stellar immune system holds up...so if I disappear again you know I have the flu!
glad to see you are feeling better other than this...

called surgeon
I talked to Dr. D.'s nurse. She said and this is her quote: "When we operate down there, we mess things up." LOL! And then she said "it takes a good month to get your bowel to return to normal."
I asked her if it really was finding a new home and she said YES! I was surprised they admit this.
She said she thinks it's hemmorroids and to buy some Preparation H or Tucks medicated pads. And watch what I eat. I am on soft stuff. Not fun. I think popcorn did me in and trail mix that I had the first time I saw the blood. Mother yelled at me. Sometimes I feel like Norman Bates from Pyscho but Mothers really do know best.
So for now, we have to find a primary care that takes my insurance and then get a referral to the GI guy which I am in no hurry!

I had uterine cancer in 2010 and then a recurrence last year where the cancer wrapped itself around the outside of the ascending colon, plus it was in a couple of other nearby places. I saw no blood, although a hemoccult test ordered by my family doctor found some in one of three samples. I had to do a smear on a card and I still couldn't see it up close. One symptom I found out about later was a narrowing of my stool. I definitely had that. The cancer was squeezing my colon so that my stools were getting narrower. Having cancer on the inside of the colon is supposed to make them narrower, too, because there is less room for the stool to pass through the narrowed area. I had complained to my gastroenterologist about abd. pain in 2014, but he'd ignored me. He did an endoscopy for narrowing of my esophagus but skipped the colonoscopy. My last one had been in 2009, so that hadn't shown anything. When I'd worked in an ER, I learned that bright red blood coming out means that it didn't travel far to get out of the body. Dark blood (brownish) means that it's travelling more distance to get out. I think the other women who advised you on this earlier were absolutely correct. I also know that abdominal pain is one of the most common complaints and suspect that's why so many doctors ignore their patients' concerns about it.
After my surgery (with two bowel resections), I was told to take Colace a couple of times a day. For a couple of months, I took it once a day (all I needed) and now I never take it. Just keep yourself well hydrated and that should help.

Ok all of this is right up my
Ok all of this is right up my alley. I continue to have bowel problems too. Mine seem to be permanent. I tried having a regular colonoscopy, but could only have an incomplete one because of narrowing and a sharp turn. Dr. Was afraid he would cause more problems so a week later I had a verbal colonoscopy. Similar prep but done while awake and kind of like a scan. ReveLed no polio’s but I still worry about cancer reoccurring there. Now I regularly see a gastroenterologist PA. I adjust using miralax and a fiber supplement. Now I had a knee replacement and of course those meds have made problems worse. Hopefully your problems will be temporary, but I have been assured by PA that many people have our problems. I’m bummed but I am alive. I relish any good days that I have.

I hope it settles down for you soon. I can identify re the trail mix. I went nuts - excuse the pun - on toffee covered peanuts at Christmas time - I LOVE them, but my hemmy does not! Good thing I can only get them at the drug store beside my dentist's office and I only go there a few times a year!
