3 weeks post op
Just wanted to update my situation in hopes that it may help Future robotic partial patients after surgery. So, I'm 3 weeks and 4 days post op and I'm nearly back to normal strength. I do get tired very easy I've noticed. I've driven by myself several times and did a two hour solo round trip yesterday. I feel pretty good and have no pain issues except for the joint pain that has been off and on since my surgery. It's nothing bad.. and I should've said joint aches... They are getting better and more far between. It seems like each week I get a little better. I'm very pleased with where im at right now. I believe that by the 6 week Mark I'll be pretty close to normal or at least at my new normal . . Lol!! I could actually work right now if I had to but my release date isn't until the 25th of February. So for anyone just Having surgery or an upcoming surgery date. The first week is by far the worse. The second week you'll begin to feel much better and the third week you can at least look forward to starting to feel stronger and more like normal. . Or at least.. that's how it was for me. I think being in great shape and a lifelong gym rat helped me in my recovery. I will say that the anesthesia did have some lasting effects on me but most have eventually passed. The dizzy spells and my eyes flickering has all went away. I know at first you are gonna feel bad and think that it's never gonna end but trust me... Time is your best friend after surgery. I was lucky and found this website prior to my surgery and the guys and girls on here are a wealth of knowledge and pretty much can answer any question you most likely could dream up. Just know that there's light at the end of the tunnel and most importantly... Know that God knows our situations and will answer your prayers. God Bless and thank you to all the members who took the time to help me. -J. Harrison

I wanted to also mention this
I wanted to also mention this. Be sure to have your doctor's check your iron levels in your blood at some point after your surgery as it is very common for your iron levels to be low or non existent. I was having some issues and spoke with my doctor about it at my two week post op appointment and I was prescribed an iron supplement and he recommended that I take it with orange juice . I didn't question why I just did as he said. I think it helped me more than anything else has with my energy level.

So happy
I am so happy you are on the mend! You are so right.... when healing time is definitely your friend! I was also a little low on iron and very anemic.
All good advice.. I hope you enjoy your Saturday.

Thank you so much and I hope
Thank you so much and I hope your doing better. I read about your report. I'm not familiar with any if the skin cancers but I'm sure there are some with experience on here. It's weird how my weeks have gone... I'll feel really good a few days then I'll have a bad day then I'll bounce back even better then a bad day mixed in. Crazy recovery but all the while getting better. Just hoping for the day that this is all memories for every one of us. Have a great weekend anyway keep pushing forward!!

Yes sir...I hope to get to go fishing in my boat in March. We have our first tournament of the year the second weekend in March and I have hopes of being able to fish it. My doctor told me I could go in my boat after February 25th if I felt like I could do it then go ahead . He said to try not to be out in rough water or hot boat wakes hard.... So I think I'll just sit back and let everybody go and then I'll eate up the river after the water has settled.

So glad you're doing well.
So glad you're doing well. Yes, being a gym rat and fit definitely helps in recovery. Good for you! I also had nonexistent iron and pretty bad anemia afterwards. I'm still taking Slo Fe iron tablets 2 x a day. I'm glad you mentioned that because few doctors order iron counts and that could be the reason why so many of us are wiped out and exhausted. All the best to you!

You are correct...I was to the point I didn't have the energy to do anything. But after my second dose of iron...I was up and able to go thru the day without sitting on the couch all day. I've always been a busy body and that just wasn't like me. Im pretty sure we are all somethin anemic when we are done with surgery... And especially after not being able to eat that good following surgery a few days. It takes a while to get those nutrients Built back up... Especially the ones involving your blood... With food alone.

Great To Hear
I'm glad for you and it makes me feel a bit better myself - Surgery is set for me for 2/19. I'm hoping to be back in the office by the third week (i have a desk job)...but I'm not going to push it...just a personal goal. Consensus seems to be once the first week is over things improve steadily - that's a real comfort to know.

Tapman,
At 3 weeks you may feel like stoping by the office, but a little early to get back to work. Try easing into at at about 4 or 5 weeks. Let your body tell you when its ready.

Your doing great, it took me
Your doing great, it took me the full sixs weeks plus some. Good tip on the iron. I use to have have low iron levels prior to a hysterectomy before my nephrectomy. I never really had it checked since, as far as I know. I will ask my levels. Glad your well into your recovery.

Great post! This is very
Great post! This is very encouraging and helpful for those facing surgery. I am glad you are on the mend and that you mentioned the whole iron thing. I was a bit opposite as mine was ridiculously low before surgery then went up once the tumor was gone. Here's to continued healing!!

great to hear that you're
great to hear that you're doing well, but everyone is different.. I had my open nephr on dec 15th and was home on the 20th.. I had no real pain but just a cough from my lung clearing out since I quit smoking... Other then that I was on plane 3 weeks post op on my way to florida.. to date I have no real pain other than this PIA flank bulge which is just pissing me off.. My advice is listen to your body, as you will probably be tired for a few more weeks.. Don't rush it, work will be there when you get back..
