Nerve Pain
I had my surgical wedge biopsy a month ago today, and I still have some risidual nerve pain. Saw surgeon last week and he said it looks normal to him and that this is just part of the process - says some people it goes away faster than others. (It was a lung biopsy, so they went in through my right side, just below the ribs - or so it feels.)
I"m wondering if any of you have had similar experiences, and if so, was there anything you could do to make the pain go away faster? (Besides medication that is. I'm on Gabapentin and I have some Oxy as well, though that supply is limited.)
Thanks in advance.

I live with chronic
neurogenic pain. Why do you think your pain is neurogenic and not soft tissue trauma or adhesions? Unfortunately gabapentin makes me wack-a-do so I will only use it for a week, maybe 2. Oxies and I get along real well. My discipline won't let me take too many. Constipation has been worse than the disease. I typically take about 30mg/day. And unquestionably a couple small bowls of sativa can always be counted on to get me through the day. I do struggle daily with the fact that this is my life now. But when I keep it in perspective I have no reason to complain or worry.

...at least that's what the surgeon indicated. Though he did say there could be some soft tissue trauma too, but it was hard to tell. The oxy works well, but I have to use it sparingly. I don't take it frequently enough, or in high enough doses, that I'm worried about addiction; and the constipation I can manage. The problem is not being able to use them during the work day, and not getting a lot per prescription. After a while, the Tylenol just doesn't cut it. However, I agree that the sativa (and indica too for that matter) definitely helps. And I hear you on the Gabapentin. It does contribute to the drowsiness, and when I sleep, it makes me dream incredibly vividly - often really weird dreams. It would just be nice to know how long this post-surgical pain will last. I'd love for it to be over by the time I start my Votrient later this month. I guess we'll see what my body has planned and just roll with it.

Pain.........
Ive had thorectomies on both lungs, incisions about 10-12 inches long on both sides of my middle back going up towards the center and I have had 24/7 pain where the right side incision is, been that way since the surgery in April of 16, the left side doesnt bother me near as much. THC oil stops it dead in its track at night, but I cant vape during the day do to my job, so Ive learned to just live with it. Its definatley activity related, the more I use my upper body strength the more I hurt that night. Ive tried Gabapentin but it didnt help at all, and any kind of opiod just makes me feel worse. In my case its called "post thorectomy pain syndrom", its common from what I understand for anyone thats had their ribs split or side/chest muscles cut open for lung access. My vascular surgeon doesnt really want to deal with the long term pain issues, he referred me to a pain Dr but thats just more pills that make me sick.Oncologist says its nerve pain, I have no idea other than it’s always there
Mine is so bad Ive thought about quiting work and applying for ssdi, but not sure if Id qualify since Im ned at this time.I should have just stopped working when it spread to my lungs and it would have been automatic, but now Im not sure and getting answers at the SS office is a waste of time. Good luck I hope you have better luck than me finding something that works

I'm so sorry you've had to go through this ordeal. My surgery was Thorascopic, not open like yours, so I didn't expect the pain to stick around so long. I use THC and CBD oil at night, though my doc likely will want me to stop once I start Votrient later this month. Good luck to you as well.
