So Appt at dermotology today resulted in a biopsy to the nose that hurt like a bad word! Sent off for pathology but Dr is pretty confident its Basal Cell. Oh man..... also I actually printed off my pathology report on my kidney tumor and here is what it says

pT2B  grade 3

Tumor   13.3 cm

Confined to kidney     No capsular invasion   No renal sinus invasion    No invasion of Gerota`s fascia    No invasion of renal veins   No pelvicalyceal involvment  Lymphovascular invasion not identified   Necrosis present

The ligated ureteral, stapled vascular and overlying fascial margins grossly appear to be free of tumor. Tumor location lower pole of kidney. Uninvolved upper pole....

So if that isnt a bit confusing gonna work on diciphering this....Any thoughts?

no sign off spreading and nothing surprising in the cells

Pray you are  now on the road to recovery

pray you get good scans and you continue in peace and love

    Looks good to me

It looks (reads) like they got it all and it didn't spread outside of your kidney. That is very good news!

    Lotsa big words

But each set points to a good pathology. Necrosis means tissue death, more than likely the kidney at the margins of the tumor.  For the size of the tumor, you have very good results.

FYI, mine was 12 1/x10 1/x8...big enough to fill an 8 oz coffee cup.

Now just keep healing and enjoy the spring that will eventually arrive.

    Hugs,

    Thanks

I thought it was good results but the size and grade of my tumor freak me out! I'm not sure how much necrosis I had it didn't say.

Thank you Annie for your kind words

Deanie that is how it appears!

Donna thank you so much for always being encouraging. I am looking forward to Spring!

    Good report

Good news with the Path Report. Also the Basal isn't as bad as it could get. Did the Dr say if it is to be removed by Mohs Surgery? I have had several removed from head area. Depending on location, usually face and ears, it was done by specialist in the practice. Not the dermatologist. The concerns was for scarring not the removal. Once it is done your good, but I go for body checks 6 months. Years ago it was 3months intervals. Good luck.

She is pretty sure it's Basal

She is pretty sure it's Basal cell. If it is she will refer me out to get a Mohs procedure. It's on my nose so we will see what kinda scar I'll have. She said if need be she can refer me to plastic surgery.... I hope it doesn't come to that.

Max..thanks I am trying so hard to check my anxiety. I just feel very overwhelmed.

    Pathology back

Yeppers....its Basal cell so being referred to Dr for Mohs procedure. Sucks to hear the word cancer again  but at least it's only Basal cell and not something worse...

Hope everyone is having a good week!

    Great news, it was confined

Great news, it was confined to kidney. What a relief. Good luck with your skin results. I am full of moles and had one removed about 2 yrs ago. I was to go back every 6 months, but got side-tracked. Here's to a speedy recovery!

    When I was

in the nivo trial back in 2012, I had a back lesion that got smaller. They cut out the rest and it was a basal cell ca. Then a year or so later they removed a forehead melanoma. No issues since.

    whew

Fox, isnt it just crazy?? I am just glad it is Basal cell however I am worried about the amount of my face they may have to remove. The spot is small but on the side of the nose where there is not much skin. Just keeping my fingers crossed. My anxiety is a little crazy right now as my scans get closer.

    Hi Cin...I had a squamous

Hi Cin...I had a squamous cell skin cancer removed off of my chest. He used the Mohs procedure. It was an easy procedure and I've had no recurrence. That was like 10 or more years ago. He gave me 99% chance of it not coming back. Best wishes to you..~Panda~

    More worries

As if we don't have enough to worry about here. Kidney cancer is always there now and then a skin cancer diagnosis. As posted before I am very familiar with what your going to go through. Myself and siblings have all had surgery on the face and head areas. I had a basal cell removed by the plastic surgeon on the right side of the nose. I thought I would look like Bozo the clown. He brought pictures of prior work on other patient's. On my face  you can hardly see the scar. It didn't hurt but you sit in the chair as each section is examined until it is clear. You won't know completely what the scar will look like kinda how people explained the Neph scar on here. I would recommend to try and relax, the wait will be awful especially the healing. It's really good that it was detected when it is small. Have faith in the surgeon and that they have done many procedures. 1 Dr I had explained the skin is like am blackboard and every sunburn is recorded and can't be erased. I'm paying for all the stupid burns I got when I was growing up. I go for for 6 month body exams and have the damages removed. If I have a biopsy it goes to 3 months. Hope this long missive helps you.

    I know right

I'm pretty sick of the cancer word!! My anxiety is through the roof. I have my scans coming up in a couple of weeks and now this. Plus where they did the biopsy is so ugly..lol

I'm pretty much just feeling sorry for myself. Need to put on my big girl panties and suck it up!

Thank you for responding. I really do appreciate all your support. Really helps to know I'm not alone in this journey!

    Also had a Basal Cell

removed 8 weeks post nephrectomy. Had biopsy then Mohs Procedure. It’s on the forehead so there’s a little “extra” skin there! It is healing nicely, don’t think it will be a bad scar. It was tough hearing another cancer diagnosis so soon after the RCC. But, like you said we just have to suck it up!!  Wishing you the best!
