Nausea... Radiation... Nausea
Help... any suggestions for nausea. I’m one of the odd ones that got nauseous after my first radiation treatment. I tried Compazine and all the over the counter meds. I can’t imagine getting through the remainder of treatments if this gets worse as the weeks pass. I just finished week one. My new prescription is for Zofran.
Thanks so much. I feel like a baby complaining week one!

Zofran is a popular drug so
Zofran is a popular drug so if you haven't given it a try - go for it. I know we all react differently so I hope this passes for you. Ginger, peppermint - both suppose to have soothing qualities. Maybe some hard candies from these? I know Trader Joe's sells a ginger snap cookie with real bits of ginger which was recommended to me - but I don't think I had the same reaction you did.
You're not a baby. Hang in there.

Heartburn?
I didn't have nausea during radiation, but what I thought was nausea between chemo infusions actually turned out to be heartburn that was relieved by taking Pepcid AC. If the nausea meds aren't helping, it's an alternative that you might want to consider to see if that works. I don't know if Pepcid would interact or be contra-indicated while taking any nausea meds, though, so run it by your oncologist or nurse first.

Thanks for taking time to respond. I’ll check out the cookies. I keep forgetting about ginger.
Hugs...

Nausea & Radiation
Another possible cause of nausea is anxiety. Lorazepam or Valium in small dose could help. Sublingual Zofran (dissolves under the tongue) helped me. I was told I could take both Compazine and Zofran together if needed for nausea. I appreciate the ginger candy, tea also. Nausea is awful and needs to be resolved!
