Bilateral RCC - pathology back
Hello all - had my surgery follow-up appointment today (robotic partial right nephrectomy on 11/13/17). Recovery is going very well and doc is pleased.
Patholgy is back on the tumor...it is ineed RCC, clear cell papillary type. Size is 3x2x2. Staging is pT1a - soft tissue and renal parenchymal margins are negative. Fuhrman/nuclear grade 2.
The Tumor Board at the Hospital (Upstate Medical University) is now reviewing the mass and will run some genetic testing. Hoping it's not genetic.
Abdominal CT scheduled for week of 1/15/18...robotic partial left nephrectomy scheduled for 1/22/18.
Anyone have experience with clear cell papillary type?
Thanks all! Happy Thanksgiving.
Ryan

Congratulations on the good
Congratulations on the good pathological results, low grade, low stage, small size and non agressive type! It is as good as it can be for a RCC pathology report. Do ask them about is it papillary Type I or Type II, but if they don't mention it, it should be Type I. Good luck on the genetic test!

Hi all - quick update..
Hi all - quick update...nothing back yet on the genetic testing front. Waiting paitently for that and hoping it's not genetic.
I'm back to work though after just 5 weeks...having a routine, some normalcy and a place to go everyday has been awesome! The days go by much quicker...and I work with some great folks, so that's good too! Finding that I get tired fairly easy but that was expected. Sitting at my desk for extended periods of time causes some incision area pain...I make sure to get up and walk a lot.
Next surgey for the left kidney mass is still on for 1/22/18 - hoping it goes as well as the first one!
Happy Holidays to all! I'll touch base again soon...you all are wonderful!
