    Yes

For those new to the board and facing the challenges of a cancer diagnosis and treatment, please consider the elevated risk of the shingles virus as a result of being treated for prostate cancer.

The thread: https://csn.cancer.org/node/289557 shared by hopeful provides helpful information. I suffered a bout of shingles during my CK treatment, and believe me, you never "want" shingles - and especially not then. Please discuss a vaccination with your doctors if you haven't had one.

    Shingles vaccine

Thanks Hopeful for the info on the new vaccine. This is an important issue that is not listed in the guidelines of the the American Urological Association or the European counter party. Urologists would not inform or get involved. The patient is the one that must be careful on the matter and request the vaccine at his GP.

I hope not to be attacked with the outbreak of shingles again.

    Best,

    VG

    Good to know; thanks

I will ask my 'regular' doc the next time I see him.

Had a bout of shingles a decade ago, but recovered without lasting neuropathy, fortunately. After the fun, I got the vaccine, but the protection goes down over time and is gone by nine years or so.
