Bladder mass removed today
I had the mass in my bladder removed today and everything went well. Right before the procedure the doctor said I might have to have go home with a catheter. That caught me off guard! He said if a cath was needed and the tumor wasn't too deep I could get the cath removed tomorrow. If the tumor was deep then I'd have to wait until Monday. Well of course I enjoy doing things the hard way so I have this dreadful thing until Monday. Hopefully they will have some pathology in so I can get some answers. I know I shouldn't complain about something so trivial given the fact that so many people are going through so much worse, but I've been anxious about this all week, so I'm giving myself a pass this time around! I hope everyone is doing well! Xoxo

Sending healing hugs
Prayers for you...I hope you aren't hurting too bad.
My friend had to have a catheter for 10 days after her doc knicked her bladder during her hysterectomy....keep watch on it because she had to go back in and have it put back in again because it stopped working....
you have a right to be anxious...anything with our health can make us so...
hope the pathology comes back quickly and is clear...

Thank you so much for your prayers! I didn't realize a cath could stop working. I learn so much from this board. I'm in some pain and I keep wanting to get up and go pee, lol! The pain is manageable though, so that's a good thing. My bladder started bothering me about 3 weeks after my hysterectomy on August 14, and it's been hard-pressed for me to get relief. I'm hoping once this cath is out I'll really be able to tell the difference. I hope you have a great weekend!!

Just watch it
if you notice it's not filling regularly (and you are drinking fluids) call your doc or go to the ER...she had to go to the ER...apparently you can end up with a catheter "fatigue" where it sorta stops working (that is what happened to her). Also be careful after it is removed because she ended up with a UTI...not trying to scare you but just to keep you aware so it doesn't happen to you.
Also her dog, appropriately named Pudge, kept stepping on it....that was sorta funny...
hang in there...I have a scan on Monday and see my radiology oncologist on Thursday and hope to hear I am dancing with NED...I have UPSC Stage 4B...had a year of treatment...ready to be "normal" again...if there ever is a normal again...we are all in this together....
have a good weekend...and watch the cath!

Well I will definitely be on the lookout. Thank you for sharing that because I had no idea! I will keep you in my prayers....bless your heart you have had a rough go of it. I hope everything goes well with your scan and you get some good news. Sounds like you definitely deserve to get a break as well as have a wonderful Christmas. Thank you again for your help!

Glad you could get that out of you and that you're back safely home. The catheter is unfortunate, but it sounds like everything went quite well overall. Best wishes for rest and recovery.
Thank you for the well wishes! I'm just waiting on Monday.... I don't know how many people actually wish for Monday to be here, lol, but for this week, I do! I hope all is going well with you!

Mein, glad you are on the mend. It is too bad the doc didn't tell you of the possibilit of the cath PRIOR to the surgery. Take care and rest.

Feel your pain
I had a catheter in for 4 weeks after my hysterectomy so I feel your pain! All I can say is try to sit around as much as you can so that the balloon that keeps it in isn't moving around in your bladder and irritating it. That irritation can make a UTI easier to get started.

Thank you! I'm not doing anything until I get this thing out on Monday! I guess at some point the medicine I was given after surgery and maybe during surgery wore off because I am MISERABLE! I can see why it has to be in though. There is a lot of tissue from the removal that is coming out. I suppose it could clog my urethra and that's why I needed the cath. I will press on, but I'm not happy with it that's for sure!!

This thing is the worst....I hate to complain, but it's driving me nuts. It wasn't too bad after the procedure, but the next day and today have been horrible! I guess all the anesthesia wore off! I see a lot of tissue from the procedure passing through the cath so I understand why it's necessary, but I still hate it!!!! I wasn't given anything very strong for pain and honestly I don't know if it would work anyway. I've been in pain for months with this bladder issue and it's wearing me down. I hope once this cath is out I'll be done with this!!
