    Tough

but that is a good report

Signs are good that you will never have to talk about this again

Now you can relax a little and get back to normal

    So pleased for you

I know letting it settle will

I know letting it settle will take time. I am still trying to do the same. I have good days and bad. I try to keep my mind on other things. But what I read your report sounds similar to mine which I was told was a good report other than benign.

    Thank you all!! Today has

Thank you all!! Today has been a tough one, but positive as well. Here's to another 3 weeks of resting and healing!! That is just the physical. Not sure how long the emotional side will take since it is just hitting home now. To be honest, part of me feels guilty that I am ok yet my dad died from the same disease. Strange feelings......But thanks again for the positivity!!!

    Sounds like positive news. I

Sounds like positive news. I had my total right kidney removed too in September. Here's hoping all scans are NED!

    I go have a question though -

I go have a question though - my pathology was also pt1a grade 2 and the tumor was 3.5 cm. I was wondering what decides the grade of 2? Instead of 1. What is the difference?

Annissa, well now you are on

Annissa, well now you are on your way to FULL recovery, mind-body-spirit!

Not sure what your belief is, but I sensed your dad has been near you all the way and will continue so.

He is okay and wants you to know YOU are too! Yet on the humal level we're  all still learning, growing and waiting

    for acceptance, right?

So if you could see your daddy's happy face, what would you want to tell him now?

Sending you HUGS, HEALING and HOPE!

    Anissa, that's a very good

Anissa, that's a very good report. I'm sorry you lost the kidney but the important thing is that the RCC is gone. All the best to you! I hope you can start feeling a little easier now that your path report is back.

Rockspin, the grading depends on how closely the cancer cells resemble normal kidney cells. Grade 1 = closest to normal, grade 4 = very different from normal. A grade 2 is not bad at all. It may still be mostly grade 1 cells but if they find a certain number of the higher grade ones the pathologist classifies it by the higher grade.

    Thanks again everyone!! All

Thanks again everyone!! All of your messages help. I know "friends" mean well, but they have no idea. They all say " I am so glad you are better!" What is that supposed to mean? Now that the tumor is out I just go on with life like nothing happened? Just like the rest of you, my life will never be the same. I cannot say I am free of this. It was just taken out. I am still healing and will have my first scan in 3 months. Today was the day the doctor actually looked me in the face and said 100% it was cancer. When can I say I do not have kidney cancer? Is it after 5 yrs of clean tests???

I thought it meant how aggressive it was (slow growing vs fast growing). Today my dr said a grade of 2 is good.

    That's Awesome

Congrats....that report is about as good as you can expect under the circumstances.  The emotional/mental part of healing is tougher than the physical part.  It has been for me anyway.

Excellent report! These are very good news.

mental healing takes time. You should try to live as if nothing happened and try to limit anxiety for scan times only. But it really takes time!

    Feelings of gilt

... seem to be quite a usual emotion many people feel. I do when I eat anything my dad cannot because of his condition. Or when I am having fun and think "oh, perhaps he will not be able to live this"... So I understand this is confusing but just when you recognize you are thinking like this try to dismiss it as a fully and expected normal experience. Just a human experience, not a real guilt. Nothing strange here as my psycho explains to me.

Best wishes and stay strong, improvement both physically and emotionally will come without noticing, slowly. Accept it and keep moving.
