I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2011 with mets in my lympth nodes and liver. I had a liver resection following chemo and readiation. I was 51 at that time, widowed (my husband committed suicide during my treatment) and raising two small grandchildren alone on a farm. Now, 6 years later, I feel great!!! Still raising grandchildren, living on my farm, raising horses, chickens too!!
Fortunately, I am retired and do volunteer work for 8 different organizations!!! I am truly blessed and thank God everyday for my health and ability to help others. Cancer has made me such a better person than I ever thought possible!!!!
Best wishes to you, I will keep you in my prayers.
Patti
Patti, I am so sorry for what you went through at the onset of your cancer dx. You inspire me and must be a very strong woman. I read your next post below and am so happy for your great news. My sister is raising her 3, 4, and 5 year old grandsons and she is healthy. For you to be able to come through tx and raise you grandchildren alone is wonderful. I wish you continued great news. Lori

hello all,
met with the oncologist....no chemo as of right now....
we are going to keep a close on me every 4 months.
since there was no cancer in my lymph nodes and margins
we all agreed to hold off on chemo. Right now there was no other cancers that the doctors could see
on all my scans. doctor Felt why do chemo if there’s nothing we can see. So i agreed.
Just praying this cancer is out of my system and i can move forward with my life!
so thankful and blessed. Thanks for listening....
Hello, I am happy to read of the update after just now reading what has occured. Great News!
I had Stage II anal cancer and completed tx on 6-30-09 and upon follow up scan in 2010 a lung nodule was found. Well the lower right lung lobe was removed on 9-23-10. This was not a metasis from the anal cancer because there was no HPV in the lung nodule but there was in the anal tumor.
My question for you is, did they test the tumor to see if it had the same markers that the anal tumor did, to determine yes indeed it was a met? My dr told me the lung cancer was a new primary.
I was a 35 year smoker who quit before the anal cancer tx started. So because my immune system was so low from the chemo/radiation for anal cancer I don't think I was able to fight the lung cancer due to my 35 year smoker habit.
So far so good just had my year lung scan and everything is fine. I am very grateful. I wish you further great results. Lori
P.S. The colon cancer discussion board has many survivors that had the colon cancer metastized to the liver and have had liver resections and other tx. I know anal is different than colon, but you could see what they have had done for the liver.

In my initial workup there were some small nodules or spots on my liver and my lungs...my Drs were NOT concerned; they said they see these all the time, especially in older patients; in subsequent scans some were stable and others disappeared. A later scan showed a "new"lung nodule; again, drs were not concerned and it resolved.
I was freaked out over these nodules or whatever, but close follow-up and trust in my physicians calmed me down. I hope your drs take your concerns seriously and you are reassured by their advice
