The pain will get better with time...
...and much of it is likely gas. The more you are able to walk around and move, the sooner the gas will work its way out. That was among the more challenging things for me. The pills helped the pain, but the gas - wow. Gax-X definitely helped. Just do what you can and don't push too hard. Remember, your body is still recovering from something major. Good luck - I hope it's a speedy recovery.

Keep moving and walking to
Keep moving and walking to help get that gas out. Take the spirometer home with you! those breathing execises really help! stay ahead of the pain and rest when you need to! It takes some time for the body to heal. Glad it went well for you!

Day 6
I am on day 6 and definately the last 3 days I have woken up feeling signifcantly better each morning and am getting slightly more sleep. I was dozing, I wasn't in pain but clearly wasn't comfortable enough to fall into a deep sleep. Had a partial nephrectomy. Have been given a talking to by sister (doctor) I was proud of sweeping today in the house and mopping floors (gentlly) she has told me to be much more careful in this 2 week period, kidney is 'ripe tomato'. So today, I feel so much more me, but I am going to find places to sit in the sun and do gentle walking between them in my house and yard. All my referred gas pain dissapoeard yesterday, it had lingered a little in the right shoulder.
Glad to hear you are feeling better as well.

I got up and walked a little every few hours
I found that walking every few hours helped a lot with the pain and the healing process. Full left nephrectomy in May 2012. Went to the hospital on Tuesday and came home Wednesday morning. The worst pain was the ride home from the hospital due to all of the trapped gas. The walking really helped. Did not walk far or fast but tried to do it every two to three hours. Did not overdo it just slow and steady. Was back at work in three weeks.
