I went to the Dr for my follow up on my surgery last week. They staged it as T1bNxMx. Fuhrman grade 3. Negative margins of resection and no edvidence of lymphovascular invasion. I go back in 3 months for my Scan. I asked the Dr if I needed to see an oncologist and he said he was going to wait until the scan in February.

    Great News

That is great.  No evidence of anything left and nothing else present

No expert but I read that if there is only one or two higher grades cells they have to grade it at the higher level

All good signs up to now.  You can never relax but hopefully you are breathing a little easier for now

    What type

of RCC was it?  Stage 1 is good and no spread is excellent.  My path looked the same except the fact that mine was chromophobe RCC.

I was stage 1 grade 2 CCRCC.  I hope you hear that you don't need anything but regular scans!!

    Your prospects look good

Given that you have had a run-in with kidney cancer, you are in a real good place.  Stage 1 is great.  Don't get too excited about seeing an oncologist.  No sense getting started on that stuff until you need it.  But, you have a good shot at not even needing it.

You've been blessed with early detection.  Enjoy!

    Optimistic

is a good place to be. You are my husbands twin, right kidney speaking. His Dr. was optimistic about pathology, when questioned about grade 3, he stated it was a bad cancer, but it's gone.  My husbands scan is Dec 4, 3 months after surgery. Best of luck to you and keep us updated on progress!
