New here and so very confused.

hi

my name is ginger. I’m 42. This journey started in july even though it should’ve started like 8 years ago when I found out I was severely anemic. This past July I was having low right pain and back pain. The  outpatient er did a ct scan and said i had diverticulitis and a mass or abscess and possible spots on liver. My gastro put me in the hospital did lv  antibiotics for the abscess and I went home and needed a colonoscopy. Even though 2 years prior to this he wanted to do a Colonoscopy because he thought I had ibs. So yesterday I quiT being A chicken and had the colonoscopy. In between this I’ve had a few ct scans to see if abscess was decreasing. Oh and in hospital they did an mri of my liver and said the spots were hemomangeomas (sp?). So the colonoscopy he stopped 20 cm in cuz there is a mass. Almost a blockage. I will post post pix if anyone is interested  They took a biopsy that I won’t know about  till Monday so I’m left sitting here all weekend thinking omg what if this or that. And of course he doesn’t have answers cuz he just doesn’t know if its cancwr or what

    Welcome and sorry for the whys of being here, but it's a great place for answers. 20cm in sounds like the sigmoid section of the colon. Miine was there and the colectomy is pretty straight-forward, cut it out and connect the ends. The upside for me was no bag during healing and it removed the divertculosis/itis[don't remember which]. I hope it's benign, but if not, know that I had something similar, and ten years later I'm writing this cancer-free. As for the long weekend, stay in the moment, do something physical like walking/hiking if you can, activity always reduced worrying for me.     Thank you. Sadly I’mu on a liquid diet since I’m almoat blocked so I have no Energy but will try and find something to do. Is it coming back benign even like an option at this point. They told me on my ct a week ago some Of the lymph nodes were swollen. All In All that doesnot sound good

    There is always a chance

    either way one of the worst things is the waiting and not knowing.  If it's cancer or even if it's not they will treat you and remove it and get you on the road to feeling better. It's not a death sentence so many here including my husband have been fighting colon cancer for many years. Hang in there and I am thinking good thoughts for you!

    It's difficult to be here but you have to know that this is the best place for answers.  Just wait until you get the biopsy and we can give you some more answers.  We have all been through a situation that another is just now going through.  We all are different and will have different experiences but we can help you out.  Wishing you the best.

    You'll make it

    One bit of encouragment I can offer is that since it's at 20 cm and even if it's worse case you probably won't end up with a bag.   I'm in the hospital right now and had surgery Friday to remove it.  Mine was 10 cm and I came out just fine.  Don't think about it in the stereotypical sense.  Things have changed so much over the years  it's mostl treatable and you'll likely end up ok.
