Really good news!
I was pretty well convinced that I was facing another recurrence. Well, guess what? I had a clean PET scan! The history for me was diagnosis of carcinosarcoma in Nov. 2015 (hysterectomy, frontine treatment of carboplatin and taxol chemo and brachytherapy) and recurrence in March 2017 (treated with pelvic resection surgery and 5 weeks of pelvic radiation). I began to feel swelling in my pelvic region, which was the symptom that led to identification of the recurrence.
Saw the gyn onc at Dana Farber yesterday! Turns out the PET scan I just had done was clean! The swelling could be some lymphadema.
The doctor did give me some information about genetic mutations I have that could open possibilities for immunotherapy for any future recurrences. So that's good news too!
As you can imagine I had myself pretty convinced the cancer was back and was thinking about everything that went with that possibility! But it turns out I'm good to go for a while longer! Yay! I'm NED once again! Hallelujah! Time to celebrate!
