Sandy, thank you so much. No,

Sandy, thank you so much. No, I haven't had any illness, not even a cold for ages. I'm just hoping too that if he was originally willing to wait a year it couldn't have looked that bad. Can't wait till they post the report so I'll know more about where it is and how big.

Apny, I'm so sorry for all

Apny, I think it's best to stay vigilant and do all need to be done as soon as possible, imagine the report states it's nothing serious a week or two from now. In this case why would you remain worried for almost a year to receive such good news. In worst case scenario and if it turns out to be something we don't hope for, it's again good to know it and treat it sooner.

My 3 1/2 year check up is next sunday and I've already had nightmares all related to Mets. I'm doing my best to stay calm but we all know it's easier said than done.

You're in my mind and prayers.

    Apny, I remembed once

Apny, I remembed once something was written in my x-ray repot. I don't remember what it was, my urologist looked at x-ray himself and showed me the shape of that thing and explained rcc mets shape aren't like that. He guessed it was something from old time infection but suggested to have it checked by CT to make sure it was what we thought it was. I got anxious because it was few weeks post my surgery i was almost dying of crying and sleepless nights but it turned out to be nothing serious. The point is it is never mentioned on my CT reports but it is mentioned on some  X-ray reports.

    Froughsh, thank you. That

Froughsh, thank you. That makes me feel better. I'm hoping he could tell from the shape that it's benign and that's why he wasn't concerned at first. It's just that this whole nightmare with RCC started with a CT scan for what they thought was a UTI so it's like de ja vu. I finally got off Xanax a few months ago and now I'm trying hard not to go back on it but this doesn't help.

Hope your upcoming checkups are all NED!

    One more thing

Small nodules will show up on CT and don't typically on a chest x-ray.  So, please forgive me, did you say this showed up recently on a scan or x-ray?

I'm hoping and praying it was a scan, and you can take comfort in that it is probably small and nothing to be concerned over.

    Prayers,

    Donna~

No, unfortunately it showed up on the x-ray. That's why he wants the CT scan.

If you do go back to NYC for the CT...

If you do go back to NYC for the CT scan, I'd recommend immersing yourself in some of the beauty and awe of the City -- art, music, science, dance, history, natural history, ride a ferry, etc. There are even some great bicycle trips around Brooklyn and other unexpected activities. If you DON'T go back to NYC for the CT scan, I'd recommend immersing yourself in some of the beauty and awe of where you live.

Way healing for scanticipation or anything else that ails your body and spirit.

    Thank you, Donna. Much

Thank you, Donna. Much appreciated! Jerzy, thanks. So true about NY. I lived there for most of my life just about. Unfortunately since I moved going back for checkups is so stressful that I'm finding it hard to enjoy anything about the city and just want to get it over with and get out as soon as possible. Not a great mindset, I know, but hard to change. I'm still so torn about where to do this damn CT scan.

    Hi Apny,

    Hi Apny,

are x-ray results uploaded on the portal? I'm kinda believing that it will be the same nodule as on the old CT. So in this case all the questions will be answered and there will be no need to scan again.

    Thinking of you!

Jojo, thanks so much. Big hugs back! Allochka, yes, I'm hoping for that too. Stupid x-ray not up yet only the kidney scan. Which is great so I can at least be happy for that.

    xray

I'm confused.  I thought your doctor was having you come back for a CT scan, but you said you got the kidney scan results and are waiting for the xray.  Did your have a chest CT or chest xray?  Normally, for RCC, they do chest CT's, not xrays because xrays can miss lung nodules.  Sometimes they do xrays instead for people who are young and have low risk of recurrence in order to minimize radiation exposure.  Otherwise, I would question why your aren't always getting chest CT's.

Anyway, I hope you get your results soon and that they are good news!

    My follow up protocol was

My follow up protocol was always kidney US and chest x-ray, twice a year for the first 3 years and now once a year. I had the US which was fine but x-ray picked up a nodule which he said was nothing to worry about and he's not concerned, and we'll do a chest CT next year when I go back for the next checkup. Then he called about an hour after I had left the office and said we should do the CT scan now instead of waiting till next year. Since I'm now living in Florida and the tests were done up at Sloan Kettering, he said I can have it done down here. Which I'm going to do as soon as I get the request for CT from SK.

They posted the results of the US first and finally the x-ray today. It says "questionable vague left lower lobe nodular consideration. CT of chest may be considered for evaluation. Cardiomediastinum unremarkable. Pelura: no effusion."

    For what its worth

    Apny,

With the little reading I have done about my small nodules it is less of a concern in the lower lobe. Hopefully not a nodule and if it turns out to be it is very small and benign.

    This might be inappropriate

This might be inappropriate but here goes, I have heard of people having what appears to be a vague looking lower nodule on xrays that turns out to be a dense nipple.  Sorry, I know it is bit much to put out there online but I thought that if it in any way might give you a less scary option, or a laugh, then I would go for it.

I am sorry to hear the

I am sorry to hear the additional stress that you are having, but I recalled a well known oncourologist said that a tumor with your size rarely comes back (none from his hospital) and lung nodule can also be some benign object. All the best APny!
