No family history.
I don't know of anyone else in my family who had breast cancer either. As a matter of fact, I didn't have ANY of the "risk factors" that many nurses quizzed me about.

I have a very strong family
I have a very strong family history, mother x3, gramma, and 3 aunts. My mother went thru hell with a lumpectomy and a mastectomy with chemo twice. I had the BRAC 1 and 2 done which showed no cancer genes. Low and behold a lump was found about 7 years later, I am 2 years past a double mastectomy and 5 years since colorectal cancer stage III. I have had every genetic test done and they have all been negative.

No family history
My younger sister was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer 14 years ago and is a survivor. She was the first with cancer in our family. No one else had or has bc in my immediate family. My mother's youngest sister with esophageal cancer, she didn't survive. Neither had any markers for cancer. They didn't smoke or drink.

Thanks for the replies-I also
Thanks for the replies-I also have ulcertive colitis (NOT on either side of my family) so my adult girls are not happy, I started the ball rolling. HOPEFULLY they never have to worry about either issue.

90% not geneticLouisaP said:The majority of breast cancer
The majority of breast cancer diagnoses have no family history. The way things sound it makes us think that it would be the other way around. At least that's what I thought.
BC can br genetic, but most of the time, it is not.

No family history of breast cancer
I am a DES daughter however. But uually DES causes breast cancer in the Moms that took it & ovarian cancer in the daughters whose Mom's took it. Hope I don't ever have cancer of any kind ever again! I had Paget's of the nipple/areola as well as DCIS Stage 0 in milk ducts & lobules in same breast. I did take birth control pills for 33 years (Which I am wondering if caused cancer) and believe I am pre-menopausal if not actully in menopause. 53 years old. Dr stopped my BC pills when I was diagnosed (July 29) and I haven't had a period since then. Guess I'm grateful for the Paget's because it's what helped me catch the DCIS so soon. I also had NONE of the 'red flags' that nurses & Drs asked me about. For 3 weeks, they thought my reddened, indented nipple was caused by a new body wash I had used - until a biopsy was finally ordered......

No Family Hx Breast Cancer
Hello:
I know this is an old post. But, I am new to the community (registered 2/10/18). I came across this thread in my search on Breast Cancer, though it was a subject that ought to be revived, since my doctor shared with me statistics on the of number of Cancer cases that happen to be persons with no family history of Breast Cancer.
I found this quit troubling to say the least. Unfortunately, I happen to fall in to this category.
I hope this topic of no familiy history of Breast Cancer will be revived again and gain momentum.
Thank you for allowing me to include my two cents to revived the topic. Livestrong and take care.
