Weight gain after lymph node removal
Have any of you ladies gained weight, particularly in the lower belly after removal of lymph nodes in the groin? Wondering if it's just me. Before cancer I maintained the same weight for years. It's been one year for me since surgery and my clothes don't fit right. My lower belly and thighs are bigger. I don't wear the compression stockings I was given. What a pain to wear them in summer and to have to put them on with rubber gloves. I eat the same and excercise more. What gives?

Laura, I am a visitor from
Laura, I am a visitor from the Uterine board so I hope you don't mind. I have to wear the compression garment too, however it is just a lower leg one, so I can imagine what it must be like to wriggle in to the stockings. They really do help to move the lymph in your body for removal or it will build up. I would say give it a try again and follow up with your doctor if you are concerned. I remember how I hated that I had to use a dialator every day and then I accepted it as what my life will be - as is the compression garment. Since they don't make printed garments for lower extremities I do decorate some of the older, worn ones.
