surviving ??
Hi I am new to this site. I was diagnosised with stage 3 uterine cancer on 8/2/16, but no lymph involvment. I had a hysterectomy, chemo and radiation. In Febuary, I had a para aortic lymph node involved which shrank with Taxol but then started growing again. I am now on Doxal. I had a PET on Monday and get results tomorrow. I am afraid to get results but am hoping for shrinkage. I have read so many of these texts from years back. I was wondering if anyone that posted in 2011 is still posting today?

Hi ebellini,
I'm sorry you are having to deal with this. I have not been in your situation but wanted you to know that yes, there are people here who have been posting for many years- some ladies who are survivors only post from time to time because they are out there living their lives and only come here occasionally to check in. I'm sure someone will be along who will be able to answer your questions and tell you their story. Please stay hopeful and keep coming back to let us know how things are going with you. We are with you in spirit! (((HUGS)))

ebellini, I am sorry to hear about your results. You may not know yet, but tell us what kind of radiation they are planning.

Something slightly similar
Something slightly similar happened to me. I have Stage III, Grade 3 undifferentiated uterine cancer. Post hysterectomy I had 6 rounds of chemo but, before I could start radiation, mets were found in my retroperitoneal lymph nodes. I finished external and internal radiation last month and am now waiting for my 3-month scan in early November. I asked the radiation oncologist what we'd do if it still shows cancer and his answer was that he could go in w/ cyber knife radiation and hit any individual spots that might be remaining. That kind of focused approach may be what your onc is referring to? Also, have you had either a genetic assessment or live tumor assay done, so that you know exactly what your tumor will respond to? Because your recurrence is in the same vicinity as your original cancer, it can be called a regional recurrence which is how mine was classified.

Yes. I believe mine was the same. It was Stage II undifferentiated. I did the chemo and radiation, last fall after the August hysterectomy, and felt great. I felt great in Feb., when they first did the CAT that showed one Lymph node. The March PET showed a reduction in size. They started me on Taxol, which was brutal but worked initially then stopped. The June CAT was back to the same size as in Feb and they put me on Doxal, which is in some ways eaiser. This last PET shows it isn't working. Not sure of the type of radiation. I have an appointment on Friday. It is considered a regional spread and I am happy it hasn't progressed any further, but am still very scared. I thank you for your support and will continue to try to stay positive. Good luck and prayers for you.
