A nervous wreck again
Haven't posted for a while but have surfed this forum to see if anyone here post anal cancer treatment post follow ups ever have anything like this pop up. I am 7 mos. out from treatments. I had a Pet-scan shortly after I completed treatments and the results were good, also had a MRI at my second follow up exam and that was good too. However I just saw my Dr. yesterday and while examining me discovered what he termed as a "leison" in the vagina. Prior to treatment and DX. tumor was located in anus with right lymph node involment. Of course upon hearing this my mind is all over the place. I have been referred to OB/GYN which I go tomorrow to hopefully know what this is but being that I am only 7 mos. out from treatment I fear a possible recurance but I never fiqured it would show up there but I guess anything is possible when your dealing with cancer.
I am trying my best to not think the worst, hoping it is something else but it's difficult. I guess my reason for the post is to see if anyone here has ever had anything like this happen? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I understand the anexity, but I have had bumps and irritations and bleeding at the perineum since radiation which still occurs to this day. I completed tx 6-30-09. I use a special anti biotic perscribed by my gyn, to heal it. I hope that you will find it is related to radiation and will heal. Lori

don09...
I am so sorry that you have this issue to add to your list of worries right now. I think what Lori said is common for many of us; the irritation and bleeding even years down the road. I think that while the physical aspects of cancer can often be well managed and treated, the emotional toll is much more difficult and kind of always lingering even after hearing the words NED! Thankfully, at least in time, the negative thoughts seem to drift a bit less forefront...I hope that you get answers that enable you to push those thoughts further away and celebrate your previous good reports!

If it helps. ..
My doctor told me if the cancer were to come back, it would most likely be in the same spot. So I don't worry about other areas. I'm about 8 months post treatment and have had 2 follow up anoscopies. Both times they found lesions but they were not cancerous. Try not to worry, I know it's hard, I'm a mess before I go in for testing!
I need to go see my obgyn, no one has looked at my vagina since the treatment, who knows what's going on in there. ..
Good luck, keep us posted, think positive!

Many thanks to you all for
Many thanks to you all for your posts, you have always been there just when I need it the most! As you know my radiation oncologist referred me to a GYN to have what he termed a "leison" looked at. I have to say he scared the bejesus out of me. I saw the GYN and what he termed a leison turned out to be nothing more than some excess skin at the opening of the vaginal area. She double checked twice to make sure she wasnt missing anything. Also had a pap while there which I'm still waiting for reults, but other than that I am delighted and overwhelmed with joy that this wasn't anything serious. Thank you all for your support you guys are GREAT!
