Colon cancer stage 4 2 lung spots

Your young age is in your favor.  It may be a bumpy ride, but it is doable.   Take it a day at a time, assuming all is going well, and you will be a NED survivor like so many of us.  Good luck to you!!

Im in the same boat as you.  Your Doctor should be advising you on what the steps are, but yes usually they will do surgery on the colon, then possibly chemo after that.  If the cancer has spread just to the lungs, then that will be your focus, however it usually spreads to other parts, liver being the most common.  Ask a lot of questions.  No one knows how you will respond to the treatment until it starts. Stay positive. 

Stage 4 here from 11 yeras ago. I have had 4 thoracic surgeries where they went in and cut out mets to the lungs. All my stuff was done at Stanford and yes it was a hassle being 5 hours away but we felt comfortable there and there are many great large cancer centers around the world. Find one near you, get a thoracic surgeon that has some experience. You will never be younger than now. you can look at my profile but there are many here who have done well for years.

There are a lot of treatment possibilities, some standard, some more advanced.  

For metastatic cancer, it's been important for us to get multiple kinds of opinions (bd certified colorectal surgeons, oncology surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, natural medicine) at various points.  The most successful treatments for advanced cancer have tended to be a multimodal approach - multiple segments of surgery, chemo, radiation and/or integrative medicine to regain control of the situation.  

We also immediately used  neoadjuvant (before chemo or surgery) immune building treatments on my wife using off label drugs (cimetidine, celecoxib, baby aspirin) and high potency supplements based on Life Extension Foundation articles and others.   

I'm sorry that you are facing this situation.  You might want to get a second opinion.  It looks like you joined in 2006, is this a recurrence or a new cancer find.  It's scary but if you can get someone that can give you some plan you can work on that.  Wishing you the best.

Several years ago I was in a similiar situations as yours. They took out 12 inches of my colon.

Then throw in the mix a quadruple bypass open heart surgery. Also the colon cancer spread over behind 

the aorta causing a tumor. I was sixty five at the time the colon cancer was dectected. Let me encorage you to keep the faith.

I had spots in different lobes. I had 1 lobectomy and then 3 other opertions that took parts of the lung. Currently I have about .5 lobe on one side and .75 on the other. I understand that location matters a lot but surgeons seem to believe they can get almost anything where oncologists are not as positive. Not all spots were visible at the same time. The reason I had 4 operations were mets popping up over time.

Thank you for replying.  Sounds like you have gone thru so much!  We will keep your experience in mind as we go thru this.  My husband is getting a scan tomorrow, hoping his spots have not grown since the last scan.
