Pathology results
I had my first post PN follow up. The results showed a 4cm clear cell papillary renal cell carcinoma (T1a NX) Fuhrman grade 2. The said that these are usually a less aggressive type of renal cancer. From what I've read, this seems to be a pretty "good" kind of renal cancer to get. He wants to do follow up scans at 3,6 & 12 months to keep an eye on the cyst in the other kidney and watch for any recurrence. I feel kinda relieved and pretty happy with this result All things considered.

Hi Jen,
Hi Jen,
That's fabulous news! From what I've read, there have been no known cases of metastasis in literature to date. It's indolent and tends to behave itself. My husband may have the same. He had a biopsy which gave a differential diagnosis of clear cell papillary rcc and conventional clear cell rcc. We will know more once his is removed. Surgery is on Monday.

Do you know they type of papillary RCC you had? I'm sure your doctor talked with you about this at your appointment. I wish you clear sailing in your follow-up scans.

Hi Stub.
apparently clear cell papillary renal cell carcinoma is different from papillary renal cell carcinoma so they didn't classify it as type 1 or type 2. ( It's also called clear cell tubulopapillary renal cell carcinoma).
